Would love a camera bag round up or just best backpacks for carrying a camera and a tripod, not even necessarily camera backpacks but just backpacks that function good for carrying cameras.

interesting, I was just looking at Alpaka's pre orders for their Pro Tech Brief. which is kinda sorta along the same lines. it just opens along the long side instead of short side.

Does it stand up on its own when packed? Seems a bit narrow for that.

Yes, a standard Nalgene bottle should fit in the water bottle compartment of the Bellroy Via Workpack. The Bellroy Via Workpack is designed with a water bottle pocket that accommodates bottles up to 2.9 inches (7.4 cm) in diameter. A standard 32 oz Nalgene bottle has a diameter of about 3.5 inches (8.9 cm), which may be a bit tight, but it can still fit with some adjustment. The 16 oz Nalgene bottle, with a diameter of approximately 2.75 inches (7 cm), should fit more comfortably. If you're specifically looking to use the 32 oz bottle, you might want to test it out to ensure it fits to your satisfaction:)

How is in comparison to the tokio tote 20l model?

You can't hide the straps but it has a luggage by pass which the Tokyo doesn't have. Also doesn't have front pocket and leather accents, instead what you get is a more clean and minimalist look.
