I thought it would be interesting in this video to take a look at this channel now so in the future I can see the progress. I wanted to share after 3 year of not uploading to the channel if the channel is a dead channel or if its worth the effort to try and revive it. I also wanted to share how much my KZfaq channel is still making from residual income after so many years and record the potential income a channel with the same amount of subscribers could get.

Thanks for the video. I find the analytics fascinating. Just an idea perhaps you could do a " reacting to my old video" series where you comment on what you might do different if you were to visit that place again now as a single traveller or what insights you gained or would do different if you were to visit that place again now. That way it brings up interest in your previous video while perhaps giving us some new insight as well. Just a thought as to something I'd enjoy watching. Take care.

The Way Away was the first KZfaq channel I ever subscribed to over 5 (6?) years ago and have watched most of the uploads. I'm also subscribed to Winging It. I started my own KZfaq channel (Gr8fully Tedicated) several months ago which is growing s l o w l y, and I have to say that this video REALLY helped me better understand the analytics on my own channel. Thank you so very much. It is really appreciated. I totally get it that many will find that it is not what they might want from this channel, but it was very important that you go through this information for your viewers and again, thank you! It’s funny - I just started to watch the old way away videos. Compared to other travel channels I was impressed by the spontaneity. One thing I would recommend is for you to try to be a little more adventurous in your editing techniques and music.

I think once you post travel content the numbers will perk up. The way away was such an informative travel channel. It helped me with planning my trip to Europe and Mexico. It also encouraged me to see places that I’d never even thought about visiting. This channel gave me the confidence to go to another country where I don’t speak the language. This will aways be my favorite channel on KZfaq. I really hope and wish you all the best as you revive it. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for this channel. 🤗

Ive enjoyed rewatching these old videos on Way Away. Its invaluable to world travelers. My vote is to put your energy into Winging it With Ash. Its too confusing to have 2 channels...there is only one of you! But do please keep Way Away up!

Hey Ash, really fascinating look at the analytics - have always been curious about this. Interestingly, I've been a subscriber (without notifications turned on) to The Way Away since right before you closed up shop in 2019. Even so, I didn't get any of your new videos into my feed once you started posting again. The only reason I found the new content is because I dropped by after watching your other channel. Anyway, I really appreciate your content - best of luck!

Great information. It is true what you say. I have been posting promo videos on my travel site for years and never monetized. I had no clue how monetization worked until about two years ago when I began searching places I want to visit.

Aww, OF COURSE it is worth the effort to revive this channel! Please don't throw in the towel. You do recall my , shall we say, rather enthusiastic feedback after seeing your video here a month ago! And finding out that the WA still existed in the first place😁 (Btw I have continued to comment on Winging It too!!! ) In any event this was a fascinating and enlightening look "behind the scenes" !

Enjoyed this video; you can make it grow again with new content. This is one of the first channels I subscribed to when I started watching. I think as you post more travel content, the algorithim will be reactivated. It was very interesting to see how ad revenue is calculated. When the channel was at its highest, was most of your income from KZfaq ads or sponsors?

I agree. You have to post regularly to increase views. I'm just starting out, but I post 2x per week and that helps. Of course, I'm not doing travel videos. But subscribers and others need to see those notifications popping up on a regular basis.

Came across the channel 3 years ago while planning our 2020 or should I say 2023 holiday. Peoples priorities or needs may have changed a bit but if we were interested in travel, we probably still are. You are competing with a whole lot of DIY stuff at the moment. Couple or solo doesn’t matter to me it’s the ideas of what to see and how to get there that are key.

I have the notification bell turned on but have the notifications turned off on the computer during my working hours and if in full screen mode as they can be annoying popping up whilst in the middle of doing something. They do get seen and acted on at some stage during the day.

Hey Ashley, great video as always, ...I for one love the transparency and love this type of content. It is so awesome that you share your financials but,... My question to you would be ; What's your breakdown as far as, do you have to pay taxes being a American living in a foreign country? Are their Taxes or fees? Does KZfaq itself charge you a fee? What is the grand total of what is estimated and what do you actually receive? I know this question is probably complex and very complicated but,... thank you for considering answering it for me..I so forward look to future content posted on this and your other main channel😁 thanks again...

I think channels that have not been releasing videos for this long will take a while before KZfaq algorithms kick in and I think that applies to notifications too.

Ash I paused at 13min to say - I upgraded my phone on Tuesday to a Samsung S22 Ultra ($$$) and ever since I'm not getting ANY KZfaq notifications AT ALL. I have to go to my notification bell in the app to see if anyone has uploaded. Mind you All of my notification settings are turned on! I even had someone check it for me because I don't understand why they're not coming through. It's really frustrating. OK off to watch the rest 😁

I think once you post a travel video, KZfaq may send the notifications. So, the next video should be a travel video, so you don’t further confuse the algorithm.

Interesting, How do you differentiate between the two channels. How should we look at the two channels - what are we looking for? I have been a fan for 4 years plus, and have been on WIWA since conception. I really want to know what you want us to see.

YT did not push it out to us....but in fairness we had unsubscribed. I searched to day, randomly...wondering where Ash was. So we watched the most two recent videos...and have resubscribed. So for these two, we were not subscribed, but watched the videos.

I agree with another follower, way to confusing to go from one site to the next. I think people will choose to watch one over the other. Put your energy into Wingin it with Ash. Travel on that site, live your life on that site. Show us YOUR world on that site. Just my opinion.

I’m not familiar with analytics but I have to assume it’s because most people are subscribed for travel and not sit down videos. Obviously people were interested in the past few that explained what had happened between you and your ex but otherwise I’d be very interested in seeing more travel.
