this is the biggest parallel between ireland and wales, even down to being asked "do you speak the language" with the most common answer "no"

Yes....absolutely beautiful! Now get rid of that nonsense train station name, it's a sentence, not a single bloody word. Talk about backfiring. "Welsh is of this soil, this island, the senior language of the men of Britain, and Welsh is Beautiful" J.R.R Tolkien

@@tFighterPilot Whether or not it's a sentence is irrelevant: more important is the fact that the real name of the village is simply Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, and the longer version was invented by a local businessman in the late 19th century to lure tourists.

Welsh is not that difficult! it's much easier than Russian or Ukrainian or other Slavic languages. I'm a Welsh learner in Caerdydd. I skipped the entry level course by doing it on Duolingo everyday. I'm taking the foundation level course (A2) now. Don't lose confidence!

Wonderful points being made. Our languages is what can unite us, but also make us wonderfully unique. Though I do not speak the language (yet), I truly believe that it should be politely celebrated as an encouragement for others to join in and learn.

Says some who has a low IQ - far more phonetically correct than English. has two extra vowels also. Oh yeah, let's not forget how alot of the English language was created by the druids. Combining latin and Welsh grammar with Germanic Runes and syntax. This is why the English have wanted it gone for so long.

A lot of people use it. Although Cardiff's dominant language is English, it does have more than 50,000 Welsh speakers. (Cardiff University's number is 100,000 but I doubt it) And many kids go to Welsh-medium schools here. I'm just a learner, but I love Welsh.
