@@breakaway2x the colarado avalanche don't need Sidney Crosby and Sidney Crosby wouldn't want to go there either.. Colarado already has a captain that starts at the center position that is just as good as Crosby... why would he want to go to a team and be a second line nobody ? Doesn't make sense for either side.

I dunno if I would count Roy as cup chasing in COL. He went there when it was their first year as team, they weren't a cup favorite before we went, and he played half his career there. Blake, Borque, Selanne and Karyia definitely did/tried. And, if their goal is to win a cup or another cup, I think guys like Kane, Giroux, etc are insane for going to the teams they picked over COL. Or even other contenders.

Crosby's downfall is that he's loyal and he's honorable. He's not selfish and won't ever chase the money or selfish pursuits like the Cup by abandoning his team. Crosby will stay with Pens and retire there even if it means 3 or 4 years more of misery and being the laughing stock of the NHL. Crosby will stay in Pittsburgh. That's how rare of a breed he is. It's his weakness and flaw...he's too classy.

These morons need to stop saying Sidney Crosby doesn't owe Pittsburgh anything because actually he does... That team kept around all these older players they got old and got rid of top draft picks every year because that is what Sid wanted to keep playing with guys he was comfortable with... So yeah he owes the Penguins organization to stay and retire with them and see things through to the end... By the way why would Sid want to go play on teams that already have captains and star players where he is just a tag along for a cup run??? It would taint his legacy just like it did Gretzky bouncing around trying to win Cups with his buddies... Which by the way never happened.....

One was loyalty to his team and fans and one wasn't.. Gretzky will always be the greatest player of all time but is he the most loved and respected? No... @@daviddemaria3056 Gretzky is more hated for having left the Canadian market then anything, Lebron is hated for creating super teams to win as many rings as possible... and more particularly for winning his 1st ring somewhere other then Cleveland. Tom Brady leaving the patriots and proving he could do it on another team without Belichick surely didnt harm his legacy. If Tavares gets a cup in Toronto its gonna only cement his legacy. Its one thing to start bouncing around teams in your prime years, its another to do so on your last leg.... The original org fanbase may for ever hate a player for leaving there team but the overall consensus by fans of the sport can be vary different. Crosby should and likely will retire in Pittsburgh but if he leaves to pursue another cup or two, out of his prime years but still highly impactful... the Pen's fans may hate it but overall legacy wise, I dont think it will be all that tarnishing at all... especially if he actually manages to get another cup out of it. Leaving to get a chip and failing can be legacy harming in some cases mainly if its the players last ditch effort to get one but with what Sid has already accomplished career wise I dont think it would take much away from his legacy at all... Especially if he leaves to head north for a Canadian team or joining along side a Canadian great/buddy of his like McKinnon... I dont think its gonna be to widely hated by hockey fans. Not to mention, Colorodo is kinda an honorary Canadian team being the former Nordiques, plus the legacy of Canadian greats like Sakic and Roy playing there, Colorodo for sure gets lots of love from Canadian hockey fans... Bringing a cup to a Canadian franchise or along side someone like Mckinnion will only make him more beloved by Canadian hockey fans id imagine... maybe not so much the Canadians that are devoted Pens fans at this point haha Basically at the end of the day sports media has the biggest impact on how these types of moves are viewed and remembered by fans and such a move by Crosby is gonna be largely understood and favored by the media as a positive move for the entire sport. No one wants to see Crosby finish out his career potentially having 30-40 goal, 80-90 pt seasons on a losing team thats going absolutely nowhere, especially if hes not chasing down any kind of major legacy record (shoutout Ovi) Crosby leaving will be one of the biggest most shocking events in NHL history as far as trades/free agency goes and It will almost certainly be embraced by the media and spun in a positive light as a huge and exciting move for all fans alike... not a negative and hated one. The non hockey centric sports media may have some harsher takes on it and non hockey fans, but I think the hockey world would no doubt embrace what ever Sid chooses.
