From my experience speaker placement makes a huge difference in controlling the low end. Maybe try some measurements where you move them back and forth in several steps and see where the dips getting bigger/smaller. Keep it up man

Don't worry, here in Germany Rockwool has to have big enough fibres so it doesn't hurt your health when handlign it without mask, otherwise its illegal. It still itches like shit, but you dont have to worry inhaling it. Its only the old rockwool with small fibres that is dangerous for your health. Our laws with stuff like that are really serious. If something is allowed in germany, you can be shure that its either harmless or alcohol.

so much absorption s will affect the high frequency the most probably the reason of the dip at 10Khz, the 28hz is the standing wave of the height of your room and the 46hz is the harmonic of that

Yeah Jon- Standing Waves are large SINE Waves @30 Hz. runs for approx 37.70 ft. Divide speed of sound into your frequency and that’s your STANDING WAVE full length & half length length of course divide it in half...( you won’t get them totally out but control them yes) place “ Clouds above your Sweet Spot. This will help a lot. Plus if you had Carpet/ Pad will help but I went with Hardwood Flooring. You will learn how to Mix/ Master in Studio “A” once your ear knows how to Eq those problematic areas. I have the same issue in my room. It’s much smaller than yours but I have a peak on 136 Hz. I tried the room simp and it turns out it’s the ceiling. Now I’m working on installing clouds but it’s difficult cause the ceiling is made of “chalk” material. I have a huge dip on my 85 - 121 Hz and another at 275 Hz. Trying to figure out those dips but it may be a phase issue. It’s frustrating lol

Most bass traps are inefficient under 50hz regardless of the price. Bumps can normally be removed with a more adequate room design. His room might not be big enough (width wise) to handle 30hz. Check the wavelength to room size ratios on Google and you'll understand what i mean.

Hi Jon, can you please add more information about where exactly the mold was, i.e. was it ONLY behind the bass traps? Or was it also in other places, thereby perhaps the problem wasn't necessarily the bass traps? and what kind of walls were behind the bass-traps? It doesn't really make sense to me why this happened, and is something I fear might happen to my place some day if I don't understand it fully. Did the contractor open the wall to see if perhaps the wall cavity is covered with mold? That might be the reason why it spread to behind your bass traps

I know i shouldn't write this for your sanity but the problem with the 35 hz mode ist the decay time / ringing. Eq will not fix that. Play a 35hz sine. Then mute it. It will ring and it will annoy you. Once your hear it ringing. Had the same Problemen. Speaker placement is key. Or a Helmholtz resonator. I'm also thinking about buying the PSI AVAA system. Which is probably the expensive but best solution. I think maybe soffit mounting will cancel that 35 hz problem. But the acousticians will know more about that.

The dip is due to floor bounce. You don't need to get rid of it since the brain is so used to reflections from the floor that it is a non issue, if anything it is a critical self noise cue to help us feel comfortable and out of danger.
@danielcortes4523
@danielcortes4523 4 жыл бұрын
You need to treat the ceiling, that's the most important things to treat in a room! You will have a great eq response, if you use bass tramps above you and last you also may consider to use a difuser in your back. Im sure you will end with some eq curve flater. If not buy ATC, Barefoot or Neumann monitors.
@costinvaly1
@costinvaly1 4 жыл бұрын
Your final recommendation is wrong. The flattest monitors in this world will not reproduce a flat final sound on their own. Flat final sound that reaches your ears is due to Flat monitors + Flat Room. Flat monitors alone will still sound bad in a bad room. There's no other way around it. Also EVE SC3012 are super flat (and super expensive) already, check their freq response graph on Eve's website. He's not lacking better monitors.
@danielcortes4523
@danielcortes4523 4 жыл бұрын
@@costinvaly1 EVE SC3012 are great! Some times some monitors fit better than others in a space! Sure Jon has to fix first some things in his room treatment and then try some monitors to see what is better in his room. Also in a mix room there should be at least 2 pair of monitors ATC, Barefoot and Neumann can be a great second reference monitor if not the first thing to listen. I am sure he also needs membrane resonators to fix the 30 hz pick! Then it will be almost flat.
@costinvaly1
@costinvaly1 4 жыл бұрын
@@danielcortes4523 yup! Although when it comes to monitors, having 3 pairs in the same price range is not as helpful. High end Neumann next to High End ATCs(of the same size) isn't really a worthy investment. You get a better reference from having high-end monitors (either SC3012 or Neumann KH410 or ATC 150) plus cheap avantone "mix cubes" and a lower/mid-end yamaha NS10s. And honestly sometimes multiple monitoring pairs are overrated in some career cases, i have an engineer friend in his 40s with over 20 years of mixing experience and 10 years ago he chose to quit the big studio he was working for and work from home because he knew his apartment home studio so well that he chose to go solo with his career. Now there's national big record labels in his country who keep sending him huge new singles to mix and master, because his end result is just pure pleasant final record that works on the radio and everywhere else every single time. That's why i call him mr GoldenEar most of the time. His monitors which he hasn't changed in 10 years are the cheap 3way Event 2030 and some audio technica headphones. Yes he does have acoustic treatment and even room correction software i think. But still, results matter in the end.
@danielcortes4523
@danielcortes4523 4 жыл бұрын
@@costinvaly1 Yes, he can get the Avantone mixcubes and the Yamahas or even some headphones to get a second reference such a lot of engineers do. But there are also engineer that try 5, 6,5 and 8 inch ATC, Barefoot, Neumann, PMC, EVE and a few others top audio brands. Using a 12 inch woofer such as EVE SC3012 as a first reference combined with Barefoot 02 or a Neumann kh120 will be a lot more better than combined with Yamahas HS8 the extra money will work. Furthermore again EVE SC3012 are great but they can have a problem in his size room, and if he can not fix his curve with proper treatment there is not way. Using those big 12 inch woofer which is a lot of energy the only change he can make is going for a smaller monitors pair.

For anyone who mixes in a place where acoustic treatment is limited or non existent I would recommend to mix with headphones for leveling and EQing and then when it comes to stereo field switch to your monitors. This way you can achieve a mix which is good enough to be considered acceptable. Of course if you have a budget go for a acoustician who can help you get your room response as flat as possible. Jon is obviously trying to get his room response as flat as possible as he is trying to emulate a professional studio however for most of you guys this isn't possible or feasible.

Jon pay attention on "door". As I can see you didn't put any absorption in it so basically all sound waves that goes tru it could vibrate and shift sound. Measure distance from speaker to that door and you should find freq wavelength that responds to that distance.

@@gutshisalamanca1191 Ach ne? Hab nen Bachelor Abschluss in Audio Engineering.
