Suggestion for your ferro rod: with your tinder on the platform, place the bottom of your ferro rod right in the tinder. With the back of a Leatherman tool saw resting on the ferro rod, pull the ferro rod straight back. That technique would even light the Procamptek.

I think both plugs are great as long as the user knows how to use them, they’re practically the same thing and I’ve had the big foot plugs for a while and love them

I made my own. There is a lot that that can go into the recipe despite it being Wax, oil, and dental cotton. The most difficult part is finding Dental cotton, but a box of 250 can be found on Amazon for around 8 bucks. It is surprisingly easy to make. For me the most time consuming part was melting the wax and oil mix

HERE ARE THE CANYONLANDS HIKING NOTES I SENT YOU PREVIOUSLY. ENJOY! Sorry for the very late reply. Life gets in the way sometimes. As you probably know, Canyonlands has 3 different districts: Islands in the Sky,, Needles and the Maze. The Maze is the most remote. Haven't gone there yet. On the very long list... We have made multiple trips to the other two. Other than Salt Creek, most of the hiking is day hiking. There are good opportunities for overnight trips, but you can most as a day hike, so why not car camp and enjoy the luxury of not hauling stuff. ***Islands in the Sky: (Near Moab) *Syncline Loop--Absolutely fantastic 9 mile loop can be done in either direction. Fun thing about this is you can do it clockwise, and then go back later and do it counter clockwise and it feels like a totally different hike. Counter clockwise the elevation gain is more gradual hiking out. *Neck Spring Loop ? 3 miles--a fun little loop to get your hiking legs warmed up after a long drive *Gooseberry Trail--starts same place as the White Rim Overlook--which is totally worth doing--amazing views. The Gooseberry takes you down to the White Rim. It is one of those trails that you follow and then look back and say "where the hell did we come from?!" *For a late evening drive-up view you can't beat the Green River Overlook. Walking distance from the NPS campground--which is one of our favourites, if you can get in. Only 12 sites, no water. ***Needles: We usually go and base camp and day hike ourselves silly. A beautiful spot. All the hikes are great. Warm enough to take advantage of the shoulder seasons when it's not so stupid busy. *Squaw Canyon-Lost Canyon loop--awesome hike that takes you over just about everything. Slickrock to narrow canyons to amazing views to creek side picnic spots. Take a day to really enjoy. *Confluence Overlook-- an out and back not on the big popular hikes list, so much more quiet than many of the other hikes. But well worth it. Start early. A little bit of sand slogging, but lots of cool slickrock rambling and scrambling too. You can actually drive there with a 4WD HC, but the hike is so nice to do. Why go there in a noisy bumpy ride? *So many combinations of loops to do. From both the Elephant Hill TH and the campground. *Chesler Park Loop to the Joint trail a good one *Honourable Mentions: *Big Spring Canyon Loop. Starts at the campground and loops around to skirt the eastern edge of Chesler Park. Some very cool slickrock scrambling and a very large ladder. You'll know it when you see it. Have at least 3 pics of me on it. LOL *Devil's Pocket--start at Elephant Hill, turn north at the junction to Devil's Kitchen (a 4WD campsite good place for a picnic stop), then loop east through the Devil's Pocket, skirt the northern side of Chesler Park on the Chesler Park Loop Trail then back to Elephant Hill TH. Druid Arch is cool too. ...And then there's one of our most favourite places to go: Capitol Reef.
