The Snow White story has been around roughly 1000 years, withstood the test of time and is known to everyone. Who will even remember Zegler in 20 years?

The Daily Wire hasn't the rights for this because they don't need to. If they are inspired only by the books from the Grimm Bothers, they can do it as everyone else. There are lots of movies about Snow White outside Disney, and the last one of them had Kristeen Stewart as the main character. There is also a version with Sigourney Reaver as the Evil Queen. What they can't do is usage of the original designs, names and music from the 1936 animation movie.

People often forget than Disney doesn't own most of the stories that made them whom they are today. Most of the stories they animated, like Snow White, written by the Brothers Grimm and their various other fairy tails, like the Little Mermaid are 100s of years old and have been public domain for years now. Though, Disney did adapt these old fairy tails, that were often quite darker then their animated counter parts. Looking forward to seeing your reactions, as I will not watch this newest Disney "Snow White".

Actually in the Brothers Grimm tale of Snow White the Prince doesn't kiss her to wake her up. He asks the dwarves if he can have her glass coffin moved to his castle. While moving it the coffin one of the Peince's servants tripped. It tilted the coffin and the jolt dislodged the piece of apple from Snow White's mouth.

As for the rights, Daily Wire may be basing their movie on the original Brothers Grimm tale, which is in the public domain. I've never watched the '37 cartoon all the way through, but I have read a few of the Brothers' Grimm stories.

Good for Daily Wire and South Park. The story of Snow White is over 200 years and so has been in the public domain for a very long time. Daily Wire would not be able to use any of the songs in the 1937 film or any songs in the Disney remake. But that's okay!
