In this video I am Located in Poland, Kraków in the Jewish Square what's known for its Jewish history, synagogues library and architecture, also restaurants in the surrounding area. I have heard this place is the most popular place in Kraków to visit for traditional Polish street food Zapiekanka. Find out what I think of this famous polish food which to me seems to be a bread roll similar to a baguette which is a long, thin type of bread of the French origin that is commonly made from basic lean dough. It is distinguishable by its length and crisp crust. A zapiekanka is a toasted open-face sandwich made of a sliced baguette or other long roll of bread, topped with sautéed white mushrooms, cheese and sometimes other ingredients such as ham. Served hot with ketchup, it has been a popular street food in Poland since the 1970s.

Glad you liked our zapiekanka. They were invented in 70's when our goverment bought license to bake baguettes form France. Also Poland did not have any fast food and it was simple ( cheese, mushrooms) and cheap :)

Zapiekanki is an extremely popular street food throughout Poland. Was extremely popular before the wall came down in 1989 as well. Standard back then was the mushrooms and cheese variety, as meat was rationed back then.

Andre, when you are in Krakow, come to the beer festival which is nearby. It starts on Friday and lasts until Sunday. Kazik Fest at the Kazimierz brewery in Zakrzów. very close to Krakow.

my local zapiekanka shop serves it in small paper/carton box and it is closed with a sticker that says "f**k the diet" :D. that's pretty much the idea. typical fast food. i love to have one once a while.

Andre... In Wroclaw you have such a tasty thing as "KNYSZA". This is traditional street food in Wroclaw. Knysza is something similar to kebab but not quite. But 1000% you will taste it. 👍👍👍

Zapiekanka is not the most popular but it's originally Polish. However, when I was a student it was the most famous type of fast food during a day or after a party at night. But kebabs and tortillas took over.
