@@Doriya678 welp, then google gave me some wrong results. I searched explicitly for Persona 4, not for Golden. Most sources said that Persona 4 Golden was released in 2014, same year as Persona 5 while Persona 4 was released on 2012. I fucking hate searching things im so fucking bad at that

Persona 1 had Yukino as a team member and then she's in Persona 2 as an adult party member as well. Also, Persona 3's tv program called "Who's Who" mentions Tatsuya, the protag of P2 . They also mentioned his brother Katsuya, as well. His brother is also later described on TV in Persona 5 as, "handsome detective with red sunglasses". It's pretty neat to know they all exist in the same universe even though Atlus forgot about P1 and P2 mostly lol.

@@goatslayer3160the first two games are really good but it was Persona 3 that gave Persona distinct brand recognition. First and most importantly Persona 3 added the calendar system and social links, it also added the distinct appearance of velvet room attendants and the concept of the wild card. In Persona 1 & 2 you and your party simply wandered from one event and dungeon to the next like a typical JRPG, and each party member had an affinity with a specific arcana, including the protagonist, every character could use multiple personas but were especially good at using personas that matched their affinity. Also in the first game there were two routes the story could take, and each would have you taking along two or three different mandatory party members in addition to two or one different optional party members, including a secret party member which required you to talk to a bunch of specific out of the way NPCs in a specific order to get him to join you. Persona 2 is a duology, with Eternal Punishment being a direct sequel to Innocent Sin. In Eternal Punishment the party including the protagonist is made up entirely of adult characters for almost the whole game bar one. In addition the protagonist of each game is a party member the other where they have fully voiced dialogue, with the protagonist of Eternal Punishment being the only canon female Persona protagonist, and also the only adult Persona protagonist. I've gone on long enough but I definitely think they are worth looking into. To watch or to look at emulation, or other options.

The Persona 2 duology is genuinely so good and has amazing continuity. I hope they one day rerelease them as a 2-in-1 pack but its system differs so much from mainline Persona that it would be nigh impossible to remake them in the style of the series post P3. I do WISH it was possible because then maybe new age fans would realise how great it is tho. Like, everyone can change personas in P2 and P1 and in 2 you can combo multiple different personas together with at least 3 of your party members. There's also no SLink or calandar system and Atlus would have to fight censorship again in order to show Hitle-- I mean... _Fuhrer._

Except the line was cut and not to mention the clothes themselves are DLC. When a theory hinges on something that’s 1 not actually in the game and 2 non canonical DLC costumes it doesn’t have proper foundations.

@user-ec8nz2ns4b yeah, but they already lived in Tokyo. Odaiba is a borough/ward of Tokyo like Shibuya and Shinjuku, mostly IN the bay. It would be like...moving from somewhere on Long Island to like, Manhattan in NYC. Or Long Beach in CA(a part of LA) to like, Venice or Little Tokyo

Well if you think about it it makes sense: The kid would become Ryuji, who'd become one of the top dogs on the track team only to have his dreams crushed by Kamoshida, thus the drastic personality change of him being seen as a punk and someone nobody trusts despite him being a nice person once people get to know him. Deep down he wants to run and because of his injury, he took time to recover and became "soft" which explains his trouble running with Joker and escaping Kamoshida's palace when he tripped. And this can't be a coincidence but there's no page for the Boy in Yellow Shirt on the Persona wiki and when you search him up (boy in yellow shirt), the first thing you get is the page link to Ryuji, so I think there's a connection.

I guess the people at Atlus daw this theory and wanted to curbstomp in into oblivion in Reload. I'm not finished with it, but I played enough through Yuko's social link to get to the point where she trains the 4th graders, and while the boy is renamed "Spunky Boy" I think its clear he's meant to be the same character. Anyways I remember one of the girls specifically calling him "Ken-chan," of course with no specific Relation to Ken Amanda.

It would be awesome if they just snuck it into reload, it's not like the kid is an important character. You only see him in Yuko's social link. Confirming a fun fan theory that doesn't mess with anything or is over the top blatant fan service

It wouldn't be the first time. Before you go to fight the Shadow at Club Escapade, Shinjiro makes a comment about how the electricity acting up had caused the owner to have to cancel some bit event. Then, in Persona 4, we learn during the school trip that it was Rise's event that had been canceled. Yukiko also makes a cameo in P3 Portable.

The only thing that really goes against this theory is the different eye colour between the two. The kid has black eyes (not like that) and Ryuji has brown eyes. I would love it however if in P3 Reload, they have the kid’s mother call for him like shouting “Ryuji”.

There is always the possibility of this difference only existing because of the color palette, Persona 3 came from the time where Persona still had a lot of influence from Kazuma Kaneko despite the design no longer being done by him, but I don't want to create any absurd theory after all it's very likely that it's just a coincidence

Your Eye Color can change shades as you grow up. I have Hazel eyes myself it used to be real dark now its become an brownish amber.

This reminded me of the kid with an Iron Man helmet that Tony saves in one of the movies. They say that kid was actually Peter Parker, which would align with how much of a Iron Man fan Peter is in the MCU

also worth mentioning: the boy did not have a portrait in the original or FES releases of persona 3. he has a portrait added on p3p, in 2009. persona 5 started development in 2008. also worth noting that there is a girl who also runs races with him who is just as much of a minor character as he is, yet only the boy gets a portrait despite him being a bit character.

I love when games do these types of deep cuts that very few people would notice. If it’s intentional, it’s a testament to the love and care put in by the developers, if not, it’s an insane coincidence that fans can speculate on.

It does seem very likely. They have many times referred back to previous characters like Yukari, and in the Q games even imply some of the characters like Rise are known by others even before they meet in the games. I believe Ann effectively fangirls over Rise. The only thing possibly stopping Atlus from making it canon straight up is that almost zero direct connection or interaction is made in the mainlines between each adventure, effectively being legacy sequels or disjointed adventures. So if they did end up having their adventures align, similar to how Persona 4 Arena did, it is likely the kid could be confirmed. This 'is' a lot of evidence to link the boy to Ryuji, like a lot a lot

It seemed to me like at the end of Persona 5 they were at least referencing Persona 3. There's a seemingly throwaway line about the trains being down for some reason when the MC gets picked up from prison. I am also not sure that P5 takes place in 2016, it's in 20XX?

Boring answer: happy coincidence Better answer: that unused dialogue implied more than coincidence, so it's not an unreasonable assumption that the kid could have been Ryuji. If he mentioned being raised by only his mom that's another indication they're the same person.

The persona Q 1 and 2 dungeon crawler games actually paints a timeline between the games, while 3 and 4 seem fairly close but in different parts of the country, the phantom thieves actually reference Naoto and Rise as the teen detective that became popular, and the pop star that has been up and coming. Though in game their forms are based in their current game's timeline, honestly its just fun to see the characters interact with each other between the games.

Tbf I love the games. I struggled to get into Persona 4 but now I love it and Yukiko is my favourite. I don’t say this often but I don’t hate any of the characters you can interact with! They are all really well rounded.

I like to think that it is Ryuji since its already a recurring pattern that many of the games characters interact or at least are in proximity with each other alot of the time. I doubt they were planning Ryuji's character that far in advance, but its a cool thought.
