Kodiak canvas tents:
Kodiak Flex-Bow 8 person Canvas Tent: amzn.to/33hHETl
SPRINGBAR Highline 8, 10x14 Foot Canvas Tent: amzn.to/2z8Hd1j
Today I go over the 10' X 14' Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe Tent. This was my first camping trip with the kodiak tent. I was surprised how fast the kodiak canvas camping tent went up and how sturdy the kodiak camping tent is. Its everything I've been looking for with a canvas camping tent. The next day when I took the tent down it was also fairly fast on the take down of the kodiak tent. I would recommend the canvas tent to anyone that wants to spend some serious time camping or go on hunting trips my prediction is this will be great in the later hunting seasons as well.
Best day pack for hiking and hunting outdoors in my opinion:

About:
I wanted to start this channel based around hunting and fitness to promote hunting and keeping the hunting community strong. The fitness side of it is for a few reasons as I get older the things that use to be easy like climbing hill sides got harder and I realized I needed more fitness in my life so to hold myself accountable and motivate others to keep exercising I'm making videos that will help people learn about the outdoors and staying fit for the hunts themselves.
This is a Hunting/Fitness Lifestyle Channel where we hangout and talk about hunting, meal plans, workouts, and reviews of various products. Sometimes in the studio and sometimes while I'm doing activities. The channel is energetic and fun I hope you enjoy as much as I do making content for your entertainment. Thank you for your support.

I love my 10×14.... Im 67 yrs. Old, lady horse camper.... I can set this tent up by myself in no time st all. Its roomy, and secure as well as rain proof. The large windows allow me to check on my horse at night with out having to get up and go outside. The awning is not a problem .... I just lower one of the poles. I love my Kodiak!

You've encouraged me. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to put a canvas tent like this up by myself and that I'd be kind of stuck with the nylon/polyester walled tents and I hadn't seen anybody say anything about canvas tents outside of heavy and you need 2 people for the bigger tents. I'm a widow with a little kid. It'll be a while before he can help and I want to be able to use it after he's grown and moved away. Thank you...

For the awning, you just lower one of the poles when you're expecting rain and the water runs right off. Just like the manual recommends.

Hi Eric, that is one of the best investments for your outdoors trips you could have bought. got mine n 2008 and it is still going strong. Couple of tips if any one cares. Take the time to add a little extra strap to the D rings on the side for pole to prop the tent up. After a log time of use wet, dry, wet, dry, they fray and tear away which can a bit of a pain in higher winds. I bought the tarp from them for the tent floor to give it some extra oomph good investment as well. Mr. Buddy heater. a small one, is excellent in the tent for colder evenings and winter hunts. Caution about using the heater and the loft in high winds as clothes can go flying off and possibly cause a mishap. I changed out the little plastic rings for metal clips that are adjustable for the storage. I also was able to treat the tent to a complete revamping of the waterproof. w we had a terrible storm and the tent took a beating and flooded inside. I was able to dry it out with Mr. Buddy and used the Kiwi spray treatment recommended by the Kodiak team. 3 cans did the trick. Good as new. Enjoy and thank you for sharing the kids will love it.

Those sure are great tents! What I do to not walk on it is open the doors and step/crawl on the inside floor to do the poles. The 10x14 sure is large but you're right it is like a little cabin so when you're hanging out in there its not so bad even if you have cots. I've been using sound blankets on the floor for extra padding and it makes it pretty nice as well. Hope you get to take it out soon Eric!

Eric James Outdoors - awesome glad to help! If your ground is hard (out here it is a nightmare and I’ve actually bent the stakes - which I didn’t think was possible) is to use 12” lag bolts and an impact drill. It seems kinda silly but works AMAZINGLY well. On my last video at 3:15 you can see the inside of mine. On the floor are the black blankets and a wool blanket. It makes it pretty nice in there.

Hi Erik! Great video. Looking to buy a Kodiak tent. More for hunting purposes in late winter. How's it hold up in low temps and do you recommend a water proof spray right away or wait a year or so? Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
@eric_james
@eric_james Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! In the colder months I’ve used a mister buddy heater. When just using one heater it isn’t quite enough but when using two it will heat up good. Unless you’re thinking of using a stove then you will be great. I haven’t used any water proof. When the water hits the tent it beads up and either dries or falls off but I imagine water proof spray would be a great idea to the more protection the better. One piece of advice to not put it away wet at all make sure it’s completely dry before you do. I had issues with that. I put it away just a little to soon before it was throughly dried and this last season I had some mold problems I was very bummed out to say the least. I hope that helps with your decision you will love the tent once you get it! Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s to you as well!

I've had one for a couple of years and it has been great except for a couple of issues. The door zippers are not adequate. We have one failing on the door under the awning. The door is under a lot of tension due to the spring bar design and it has cause the zipper to fail right at the corner. A secondary issue is the design of the awning. Its very awkward and the center grommet must be tied down so it is lower than both poles so water can drain otherwise water will pool and bring down the tent.

I have the 10x14 and have been sleeping in it the last 2 years, set up on a friend’s property using the house for kitchen and bathroom etc. I love it and hate it!... these tents are great in summer with excellent ventilation, quality made, ykk dips heavy duty floor and the flex bow design is great in wind, just rock solid... the cons are that it’s terrible in damp, wet climates.. there is no way whatsoever to ventilate it without exposing it to rain, and because of this it’s a magnet for mould.. the total inability to ventilate it is a major problem.. If you’re only using it for short term camps it would be ok I suppose, but for an all season long term tent I’d avoid canvas... although other brands have designs where you can ventilate them but still not expose the windows / doors to rain...

I haven’t had it rain yet. Before I got the tent I did a tone of research myself and a few of the guys said it held up really well in rain. Thanks for the comment!

RE: the A-frame concept -- have the middle stake be 1" to 2" below the tent entryway roof/opening height and the two end stakes about 4" lower than the center. It worked on other tests with a front fly that I have been in. Enjoy!

I tried a few different things this last hunting season I found one pole at the door way and the other tying straight toward the ground on the other side with no pole just rope and stake worked well for me. Thanks for the comment!!

I have the original 10x14 Springbar tent that Kodiac copied the design from. Kodiac did ad some design improvements. But neither is as roomy and comfortable as my 5-meter canvas Bell tent, and none of the cabin-style tents are as weather and wind-resistant as a Bell tent.

I don’t know much about the bell tent sounds like a good tent though. Thanks for the comment!

@@eric_james Your welcome, the TeePee style of the Bell tents make them inherently resistant to wind and the canvas is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter and a major plus to me was that the canvas doesn't flutter and make the noise that nylon and poly tents do. If I was solo camping I would consider a 3 meter one, and actually, a 4meter one would be plenty for my wife and me but we enjoy the 5-meter one because we can have a queen bed a cot for our bags of stuff a good size table and 2 chairs and still have plenty of room to walk around. If you are considering one, my research 2 1/2 years ago led me to the Psyclone tents, their quality is excellent.

That’s cool I’ll have to check em out. The wind flapping the nylon tent is one reason I’m so glad to have the kodiak for sure. Thanks for the info!

For the 8 person tent I’d say yes but if you got one of the smaller tents maybe but with the polls even that would be tricky. You’d probably be better off getting a regular tent for the dirt bike. Thanks for the comment and support!!

Holy Science. You wouldn't want this on your pig. Sure you could do it but if you're camping you'll have 15 to 40 lb of other gear The smallest Kodiak is extremely doable and I've used my KLR with the Springbar brand same size 6x8ish.. although I've since started using a backpacking tent cuz even the smallest Kodiak is like 20 Lbs.

Yeah those tents are heavy. It’s probably the only down fall actually is there’s no backcountry hunts with the kodiak canvas tents. Unless you have horses.

I don’t think so but who knows maybe same manufacturer. Spring bar tents are identical as well.

Ts not easy its simple easy. Only a complete idiot would have a hard time with these tents.Had a seam start to rip . Kodiak said no problem. Sent some pictures they sent me a shipping tag in a few weeks I had a new tent shell. They took care of my problem.

Wow that’s really great service. I’ve had mine for roughly 6 months now and still as excited about it as day one when I opened it out of the box! Kodiak is a great company from my prospective! Thanks for the support and comment!
