Hat Yai is the largest city in southern Thailand, sitting close to the Malaysian border. Shopping is a popular draw to this city. Open markets sell fresh fruit and local delicacies, while the heavy weekend markets sell pretty much everything!
With the driving distance of approximately 218 km, one can easily take minivan, bus or even drive themselves to Hat Yai. It takes about 4-6 hours to arrive inclusion of the time spent at the Immigration counter. I purchased tickets 3 days before online. Or grab a ticket from the Bus Express counter at the ground floor of Prangin Mall, facing Komtar. It costed me RM 50 for one way trip. Good things is Hat Yai is a small town where you can explore them by foot. If you are too tired to walk, no worry as their Tuk Tuk are easily spotted on the street. But I'd rather use Grab as most of the driver will quote you much higher especially if they know that you are a tourist.
