This is not a how-to video.
The method I'm using is not necessarily the right one. Nowadays, you can find out the right way to do things by searching on Google. If you only want results, that's fine too.
But for me, the most important thing is not whether a method is right or wrong, It's about experiencing firsthand why it works or fails.

In France and Switzerland, we use wooden tiles. But for bigger slope, compared with your roof. Mainly to avoid that water stays and, slowly, destroy the wood For each point of the roof, here, we have 3 layers of tile (in your case, only 2), for same reason than above. Last but not least, down wooden tiles, between its and waterproof system, let space with air, to keep dry and sane your wooden tiles. Enjoy your project and life as I enjoy to watch your videos. As you mentioned, the roof may not be sloped enough. We plan to put cleats under the wooden tiles to provide a layer of air, but it will require frequent maintenance. Well, if it's a failure, I'll redo it in a different way and it will be fine.

吟が来たばかりの頃は本当にうるさかったですね。「猫を黙らせろ」というコメントも多かったです。動画だったら音量を下げれば済むことですが、一緒に住んでいる私はそうもいかず大変でした(´Д｀;)

Cedar shake roofs used to be popular in the US. Two flaws to be aware of with a wood roof. Moss and fire problems and depending on climate termites might be a third. Nothing wrong with the concept, it will just need more maintenance . It is a small roof so not a big problem. The big pluses are it is using discarded items, it is low cost, and really, the most important plus, far more visually pleasing than other options.

I agree, but isn't pallet wood made of cheep and so durable wood? How will you waterproof it?

@@Tora_74 I believe he wrote in the sidebar of details he would use something impermeable between layers and treat the wood with preservative. Most pallets are made from oak, elm or sycamore here in the US. MANY come from my area with Amish mills and pallet shops and a goodly supply of timber harvested from trees planted in the Dust Bowl aftermath to prevent future problems. They are cutting the windbreaks now and clearing more area and filling in ponds to plant more acres of row crops. It is good to see the wood used, they used to burn pallets here.

As mentioned earlier, how about Cedar Shingles. You have lots of Cedar trees all around you. You could make your own.
