Don't feel bad! Florida's Friendliest Hometown is a marketing strategy the developer uses to sell homes. I guess we learned The Villages is like anywhere USA. It is a beautiful place with lots to do, but people are people.

Oh my gosh if people didn't stop when Jerry was hanging out of the golf cart on his back then they're either blind or very uncaring! Jerry and Linda you did a GREAT job with this social experiment. That is unbelievable!! We were there in July to close on our house. We had a flat tire on our rental cart. We called the rental company, but while we waited, at least ten carts stopped to help.

Rewatching this with Chuck and can’t believe how many drove by. We would have stopped! We had much better luck last year on 466A on our way home from Turtle Mound. Nicer people “up north” maybe.

This was really interesting and a good idea for an experiment. I have noticed you and Linda stop and ask if you can help...I wonder if everyone just assumes that everyone has a cell phone, but not everyone has someone they can call. Well, somehow this doesn't surprise me. There's two kinds of people, ones that have experienced hardships and are therefore more than willing to help others, and there's the ones that lead a privileged and easy lifestyle and could care less about others (hence, "it's their problem, let them deal with it" mentality). Living in a bubble doesn't help either. Sad, but true....

The good news is you didn't get mugged or something. So in that aspect it was a success!

I am astonished that people would pass by Jerry with all his obviously needy poses. It was funny and sad. I had a very kind women ask if I needed help on my lifestyle visit while I was pulled over in a golf cart looking up directions on my phone. On our second visit to the Villages we had a rented golf cart and set out for my cousin's house. Tried to use the app for directions and somehow got turned around and ended up turning into Lake Miona Rec Center. Just before the gate, we pulled off to the side to look at the map app. A very nice lady not only stopped to see what we needed but she told us to follow her and she'd lead us to church villa neighborhood!! That's just going above and beyond!! 😊

Jerry is a good actor. So dramatic. Those folks should be ashamed for not asking Linda if she needed anything..

If there is a broken cart I would think some people wouldn't stop to help because they are not mechanically inclined or physically able to help push. But with the head on the wheel or sprawled across the seat that would be medical and I was surprised more didn't stop. And I saw an opportunity for you to carry business cards with your channel on it to hand out 😊

I enjoyed watching the experiment and wasn’t surprised by the outcome. Basically bcuz TV is merely an ordinary town that’s populated with ordinary people. And ordinary people are motivated by self interest... which means they’re driven by attaining personal needs or external rewards. So to my mind the experiment demonstrates that no matter where a person relocates, their mindset or their attitudes, priorities and personal characteristics tags along. This means acts of kindness don’t depend upon where a person chooses to live but rather, it depends upon what lives inside of a person. And this is not to say that those who chose not to stop aren’t kind or friendly people but perhaps that stopping didn’t provide a reward that was greater than the reward that came with continuing on their way. Of course this is unsettling news for some bcuz they desperately want TV to be special or different than any city or town in America. But such a belief will surely case mental disturbance bcuz in truth such expectations will never match the reality of human nature. So try not to fret over a town being friendly. No... more importantly fret if you are currently or you are becoming unfriendly. Blessings

Hi You should have taken out your map. When I was there and lost, I took out my map or phone to look, at least 5 people over 10 minutes stopped to ask if I was lost or needed help. And I am an Asian American. So I do think it is a very friendly and non racist community. Happy Thanksgiving.

I think you have a Yellow golf cart which is very recognizable to your fans.

We did a stay and play at the Villages and didn't find very many friendly residents. Based on your videos, we were surprised. We also did a stay and play at Latitude Margaritaville in Hilton Head and the people there were amazing.

I have been here since June 2020 and ALWAYS stop and ask anyone that has pulled off to the side or looks lost, if they need help.

The good news is, people did stop and offer help. Especially in today's society with all the division. There are still helpful people in The Villages and everywhere. Being helpful and being friendly are two different things.

Thank you both for trying this experiment. I was surprised how few people stopped and even more surprised how fast some of the golf cars drove by. Maybe some were distracted by the pretty pond across the street or maybe they thought you may have stopped to take in the view but whatever the reason it only takes a couple of seconds to slow down and ask if everything is ok. I'm surprised.

Last week I failed to get my seatbelt fastened in the car and had to pull off the road. With in a minute I had a car pull along side of me and ask if I needed help. I gave them a thumbs up because I just needed to get my seatbelt fastened. For some reason I just couldn’t get it fastened and within another minute another car stopped and asked if I needed help. I was too embarrassed to say I couldn’t get my seatbelt fastened so I fibbed and said I just had to answer a text. Thank God I was able to get the belt fastened before I inconvenienced someone else into stopping. These people stopping for me just reinforced my reason for moving to The Villages.

Try again up in the norther section. We always stop to help. Also we’ve been offered help when stopped.

When we stayed in The Villages several years ago our golf cart stalled and several people stopped. I don't think it's as friendly as it used to be. 😢

I live in Polo Ridge and people here are very friendly. I got a flat tire in my cart and had many people stop to help me.. All worked out well. Big Al

The experiment would probably have different results in a different location. Many of the carts can see you from quite a distance in that area. If they see a cart stop and move on they will assume nothing is wrong. Pushing would work better if you put the cart in neutral and actually start pushing it. I was headed for the cart with Linda when I spotted Jerry with a camera and knew something was up. Great to see you again. If you want to try a fly rod sometime, I have extras. The catfish at Charlotte are a blast on a fly rod.
