An article just came out today that 32 out of 32 fires on Vancouver Island were caused by humans. It's the agency that reports on forest fire management, etc. There's no way that these are all naturally occurring fires. Absolutely no way, especially with all the radicals running around nowadays.

Same, I at Lexington, KY. The wildfire smoke has been in the atmosphere for so long that chemistry is happening. Smoke from wildfires is composed of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that interacts with UV radiation and creates benzene and formaldehyde compounds in the atmosphere. These are toxic air pollutants that can have very adverse effects on human and animal health - and they happen to smell like burning plastic.

They always do. It is like fire fighting protocol. Make fire guard. Send RAP Attack to the front if it is not going to fast. And these fires in BC are so large you have to go miles in advance of some of these fires. Wind blowing embers sends fire miles in advance also. Be putting out spot fires every where. And fight the fire from the sides because it is to dangerous for fighters to be up front of the fires.

in the past, the government did a lot more controlled burns. Rules were a lot less strict on open fires. This resulted in annual old brush being burnt off. Ever since the 1990s, things changed for the worst. Serious cut backs on forestry management, stricter and stricter laws on open camp fires.

PSA: fires which consume forests are wildfires even if they’re started by arson, accident, lightening, whatever. A forest experiencing normal temps and rainfall is less likely to produce a catastrophic fire than one experiencing drought and high temperatures. Science is complicated and causes are complex.

Well mother nature said it's time to cleanse the forest floor of old dry dead depre. Now there's won't have fires again for another 25-30 yrs n same area. Fires bring new growth opening the forest floor to new growth. Life continues always. Now Canada will have much lumber needed to fix housing shortage. It's a win win.

Is it normal to plant miles and miles of just pine? Is that how a natural forest grows? Is it surprising that it’s burning up? Are the leafy trees not worth as much? They should be obligated to plant a certain amount to leafy trees Same as what happened in California. Was it a great idea to plant eucalyptus trees??? And what do you know, now it’s invasive. It’s a problem that’s also been created by greed all over the world. I think leaving that out of the conversation makes you complacent and part of the problem. Yes things are changing however planting large swathes of land only in pine is a large part of the problem.
