This isn’t wildfire season in Canada, and northern air stream don’t come south in the summer. Something is off here - the smoke smells industrial and toxic.

Smog in west central Indiana. The smell is plastic/chemical like, leaning a foul taste in the mouth. Reduced visibility. Small town, smog seen within a block. This is NOT just forest fires. My air quality has NEVER, EVER been impacted by a forest fire.

I'm in Louisville, Kentucky and today we are experiencing thick fog, bad air quality, and a chemical like smell in the air. It's supposed to last thru the week here. It's gross. I can only imagine how bad it is there at Ground Zero. Sad

There are several videos on KZfaq showing they were throwing fire on the forest from helicopters instead of water.

1989 13,400 fires , 1995 14,000 fires highest last year 6000 , why the panic , many started by arsonists ????

so im confused why are the firefighters not jumping far ahead of the fires and then cut a clear zone so that the fire stops wen it reaches that clear zone

As many bombers not deployed, as well as helicopter and otherwise, why can't the military be activated to make bombing runs dumping water and/or baking soda with other affordable solutions? You're paying for the military, why not receive benefit of all the equipment? Get it done.

Someone showed video of wildfires starting at least 5 far separated points all at the same time. Very mysterious.

How much effort is the Green Movement putting in here to help control or put the fires out ? They make alot of rules, but never see them putting out fires or helping out the poor wildlife !

I am so glad the Ms. deRoos made no mention of climate change and eluded to the real problem, that being the suppression of fires leading to a build-up of fuel and eventually leading to a much larger fire in the future.

Nova Scotia has poured with rain off and on for most of June and we have had very few sunny days since the fires so we're doing better. Other than for the drabest June ever we've had we needed it to stop the fires I guess

PSA: fires which consume forests are wildfires even if they’re started by arson, accident, lightening, whatever. A forest experiencing normal temps and rainfall is less likely to produce a catastrophic fire than one experiencing drought and high temperatures. Science is complicated and causes are complex.

Well mother nature said it's time to cleanse the forest floor of old dry dead depre. Now there's won't have fires again for another 25-30 yrs n same area. Fires bring new growth opening the forest floor to new growth. Life continues always. Now Canada will have much lumber needed to fix housing shortage. It's a win win.

Those fires are set intentionally by someone.

Is it normal to plant miles and miles of just pine? Is that how a natural forest grows? Is it surprising that it’s burning up? Are the leafy trees not worth as much? They should be obligated to plant a certain amount to leafy trees Same as what happened in California. Was it a great idea to plant eucalyptus trees??? And what do you know, now it’s invasive. It’s a problem that’s also been created by greed all over the world. I think leaving that out of the conversation makes you complacent and part of the problem. Yes things are changing however planting large swathes of land only in pine is a large part of the problem.
