somethings, I will buy at Harbor freight, somethings, I won’t. I never heard any bad stories about the harbor, freight lift table for motorcycles, but when I bought my lift, I had a Yamaha venture royale, I think that’s over 850 pounds. So I bought the kind of Lyft they had at a shop I was working at at the time selling motorcycles, part time.. I think I paid around $650 for it new. Getting it at dealer cost. my greasing, the seal, like a rubber piston ring around the piston, seems to have fixed my lift when it would not go up a few weeks ago. I never really thought about how they work. But when I took the piston and connecting rod out of the cylinder, that took about 15 minutes, just for bolts, holding the cylinder in place, and the connecting rod just comes right out with the piston on the end ..I could not believe how simple they are.

I had one that I used for about 15 years. These are great lifts. One of the coolest things about a lift is you can jack it all the way up and roll your bike into a truck.

I've had my Harbor Freight motorcycle lift for about 8 years also. I fixed the leg pump thing by replacing the hydraulic jack with an pneumatic cylinder, and hooking it up to my air compressor and a foot operated valve. I didn't do that because of problems with the lift, but problems with my knees. It's an excellent lift.

I got my Harbor freight lift a little over 5 years ago, I use it all the time. The best part is that plate under the rear wheel can be removed to take the wheel off to repair a flat tire or have a new one put on. You can also do the front tire to by jacking up the front of the bike. But in generally it is the best tool in my shop for all maintenance. It'll keep your Butt off the floor especially if you are just doing a oil change. One thing I do to make life a little easier is I'll remove the Jack foot paddle and the release paddle to, if I'm going to be working on the bike for a while, helps keep me from tripping over them. Great video and by far The Best Tool a Biker can have.

My Harbor Freight lift is only about 2 years old and routinely has either a Soft Tail, a Victory King Pin, a BMW R1200RT or any number of dirt bikes on it. I even use it for servicing air compressors or push lawnmowers. It’s versatile for sure and has been 100% reliable so far. Take the man’s advice and get one. Watch for coupons and it can be had for under $500. Consider as he did replacing the tire chock that comes with it. Original is flimsy.

Got mine 4+ years ago.. added quality wheel vise, and use bar every time. Got for $300 and shortly after that the price went up.. no brainer at that price and getting me off the floor.. would still buy it today at a $467.. I think I paid $120 for vise. Well worth it and still works perfectly. I follow the same rules as you.. use the bar. Don't leave load on the jack. I use it for all kinds of small engine maintenance, generators, mowers, snow blower.. etc.. makes a great additiinal work table when you need some more space.

I bought one 10+ years ago. Gave it to my son when I moved a couple of years ago. He uses it every week to pull maintenance on the 6 motorcycles he and his wife own. I too, use the safety bar every time I used the lift and would do the same regardless of the brand of lift I might own. The only weak point of this lift in my opion is the front wheel chock. It ain't worth a damn but it can easily be replaced with one that actually works. Most of the lifting in my garage was for a GL1800 Goldwing, and 1700 Nomad.. Not exactly lightweights. Thanks for posting your video.

Also zero issues with mine well 1 the little stops In the front by the wheel got bent and I had to cut them off to get them out however that was most my fault I hit wheel stop a little hard one night and the whole lift moved forward. I have owned this same lift for 14 years. I have only added to things to make it safer and easier to use; two additional tie down loops on each side and a fixed wheel on each forward corner. The wheels just barely touch the floor in the down position and prevent the lift table from tipping in nearly any direction while loading or unloading.

I bought one in 2014 the hydraulic jack part started leaking about 2 years ago. I fixed it with a product called AT-205 RE-SEAL. It worked immediately and is still good 2 years later. It is a seal conditioner, I only added a couple ounces to the jack oil. There's a rubber plug on the side of the jack. I love my Harbor Freight motorcycle lift. Great Video I watched all the reviews on this lift. Far more bad than good being said about it. I was looking to get one after years of laying and sitting on the ground to service my bikes. I purchased this anyway and been thrilled with this lift. I use it just as it came, no mods. After lifting the bike, I rest it on the rod and it stays there for weeks at a time while I rebuild carbs, ect and it has been working without fail. Would highly recommend this to anyone in the home garage space.just as you said, after getting your bike up in the air, rest it on the rod. These hydraulic pumps aren’t meant to hold the weight of the bike over long periods of time.

Good video. I decided I needed a motorcycle lift about 5-6 years ago so I bought a lift just like this one from HF online. I can tell you that I firmly believe this lift paid for itself the very first time I used it to do the work needed on the Fatboy I had. Had a few buddies bikes on it too, all great results. Haven't needed to get my Road Glide Ultra up on it yet, though. I'd like to do a few mods/upgrades now to make it a little better and I see a few great ideas here in the video and in the comments. Love the idea of replacing the hydraulic cylinder with a pneumatic one. I should also change the stock front wheel choke to a larger unit like shown in the video. If anyone wants to poo poo my Harbor Freight lift I won't care, but I have a Milwaukee sticker I can just slap on it so you can feel better. ;)

If you don't use the bar make sure you take off the release peddle so you don't accidently drop it down suddenly. Also make sure anybody around you knows which peddle does what or tell them to stay away. I've seen a brand new road glide go down because the owner of the lift told someone to raise it a little so he could get the bar in and they got the wrong peddle.

I thought you were going to say something bad about the lift, I haven't seen a bad review of it. I left it up one night, just above the safety bar, next day still above safety bar I put an actual wheel chock on mine so I can ride up get off with plenty time to tie down before it can fall over Only problem has been putting 1200 iron up, scrapes at top of ramp......2x4 under end of ramp flattens it enough , other bikes have higher clearance

I am a harbor Freight fan. This lift is on my gotta get list, purchased an ATV lift about 20 years ago, still working great, has doubled as a transmission jack. I have been a mechanic for 40 years and don't mind paying top dollar for a tool unless I feel like I am getting raped by the guy driving the truck. I mean a vise is a big hunk of cast iron you know you are going to hit with a hammer. Name brand vise = $400, Harbor Freight = $60. Am I going to pay $400 for something that is going to be subjected to the hammer, the oxy-acetylene, no, $60 and my vise is another of those tools I have had for years, still works like a champ! I will buy one of these lifts this summer.

I have to agree. There is a time and place for certain things. I have plenty of Snap On stuff that I cherish and serve me well and would get nothing else for example a 1/4 in swivel for sockets, the puny thing is $68 but doesn't break and the pins don't walk out like cheepos. Even if it did the truck comes every wed.. Then you have the other stuff like you said, vice is a great example I could ad more than a few to the list like a 1/2in breaker bar. Can't do much to make these things better, just heavy stupid tools and not worth snap on money. We have done a little box comparison to with us general and snappy, most points compare equally except the general stuff is powder coated, just awesome. my snap on loses paint every time I wipe it off or wax it. Not even a clear on their stuff let alone power cote. Kind of pathetic for the cost. They should do better

consider this: you have your 900 pound motorcycle up on this type of lift, you have the safety on so the weight of the entire motor cycle is on that safety, and the lifting cylinder won’t lift the machine off of the safety while you have it all the way up.. how will you get at 900 pound motorcycle off of the lift?..

@@ruconsmoto I have a Pneumatic handy lift that I bought new about 25 years ago.. I did not have it in a busy shop. I just had it at home for my motorcycles. There have been more than a few… I had one of my bikes on the lift, about 600 pounds, I tried to put the lift up to change the oil and give the bike a once over to check everything.. The lift would not go up. I heard a lot of air escaping from somewhere that I never heard before… I have a video on my KZfaq channel showing how I hope I avoided this situation. I mentioned having a bike up and the safety on, and not being able to get the lift up off the safety so I could lower the table.. I don’t think I could use to floor jacks to lift the table with my 900 pound machine on it if that happened again.. I suppose I could back my pick up truck with the tailgate down close to the table and wheel the motorcycle onto my truck, but then how would I get my motorcycle off of my truck? I suppose I could call a tow truck to lift the motorcycle with straps, if only I could be sure to lift the motorcycle level, which would require a yolk with a spreader on it.. I finally decided I am not going to trust that lift anymore. I looked into how much it would be to replace the seal which just looks like a fat O-ring. That sucker is $110. if that is the one that was leaking. There is another seal around the connecting rod. I just reached them very well, and it appears to be working, but I’ll never trust that lift again. I will lift the motorcycle when needed using the lift, but I won’t put the safety down. I will keep it elevated using the air. without letting the table put its weight on the safety.. to be fair to the lift, it did look like the seal on the piston, and the connecting rod were dry. I had never thought about lubricating them ever before. When I pull the piston and rod out of the cylinder, which took about five minutes, I was very surprised at how simple those things are., They are no more complicated than a simple bicycle air pump
