It's said that seeing is believing - at long last we finally get to visit this most legendary Kurdistan Bakery, where the "Master Naan Bread Maker" has honed and perfected his technique (learnt from the age of 16) to such an extent that from the moment he takes the dough bread in his hand to the moment that he slaps the fully formed nan into the tandoor oven; takes literally a matter of seconds......yes, that's right we said seconds!!!
We recorded this video when it was a relatively quiet period in the shop - it's estimated that approximately 400 to 500 naan an hour can be produced when it gets really busy.
(Please note that, the whole of this this video is in real time; nothing has been speeded up, even though at times it may appear so).

This Tandoor naan master is probably the world's fastest (& if not; then definitely the fastest that we've ever seen), he shows off his skills to an impressed and hungry public at Shadi Bakery.
This is what fast food really should mean..........here it should be called "200 miles an hour fast food".
When was the last time you ordered something from a fast food take away (or restaurant) & spent ages waiting for it???
To be sure; this is NOT the world's fastest hip-hop rapper but he is probably the world's fastest fresh naan bread maker. This is the Lightening Speed Naan Man........blink & you'll miss him.
Amazingly the price is extraordinarily cheap, can you believe that they sell Wholemeal (brown) or Plain (white) nan breads for only a £1.00.........How much did you pay for your naan when you last visited your local Indian takeaway or restaurant ???
The way you see these guys make the naan bread is exactly the same way they would make it back home in North Iraq, Kurdistan,
Watching the naan being made you can see that it's a very similar technique & method to the way Indian Tandoor Naan bread is made (they call it a Tendur in Kurdish).
A special thank you to Twana & all the bakery team who welcomed us and graciously allowed us a privileged glimpse into their kitchen to do the videoing.
Long live the King.........."The King of Naan"
Shadi Bakery is situated at: 79 London Road, Croydon, CR0 2RF
If you have any questions you can call them on: 020 3731 6394
They open daily from ???

This is what mastery looks like. No wasted movements. No extraneous ingredients. Just pure technique executed perfectly at 100 mph.

This dude is ridiculously skilled! Just slaps the bread around, waves it a few times, then it forms into a perfectly shaped naan bread. Incredible

It's not roti. Roti is flatbread with no leavening (yeast). Like lavosh or tortillas. Those were yeast breads. It's naan, not roti.

I work in tech sector and my colleague who I became friends with is Indian. I am American and I think Indian food is the best tasting food in the world, something about the spice and the flavor no other can come close. My friend had brought some of his food to work and offered me some, I tried to act normal but it was outstanding and when he told me his wife made it I was thinking how lucky he was. (First I can say Aerican women are lazy and wont cook for their man, they would just order grubhub or buy restaurant food) He ended up inviting me to his home for dinner after work. Although I known him so long it was first time going to dinner at his home, his family is very friendly and welcoming. I was humbled they would have me over for dinner. All I can say is if you are lucky to have an Indian friend, first you will notice they are upfront and honest (a contrast to the social climbing you see in workplaces here) And you will notice when they say you are their friend, they actually mean it and are genuine. Another thing is if you have an Indian friend and they invite you over for dinner at their home DO NOT pass up. The food was just phenomenal....it was head and shoulders above anything you could get at a restaurant at ANY price. His wife was well mannered, polite and very humbled by my delight in her food and when I gave compliment. After a few days passed I asked him if I could maybe purchase some of his wifes food , he laughed and thought it was a joke, then I told him I was serious because I loved Indian food and thought his wifes was phenomenal. Apparenty to him its normal because he likely grew up with that caliber of food. He ended up telling me that I am welcome at his home for dinner anytime and just to let them know so they could make enough. All in all, I think not only the food, but the people and culture of India are something that is special. Glad I have Indian friends who act respectfully.

@Kayla Nguyen - Racist much? You are stereotyping an entire country because "your husband" is from India and knows? Jeez - your comment can just be replicated to any country in the word.

@@gugnanisarika This is the kind of slanted opinion you get growing and living under a system of organized oppression. I am one of the white people currently struggling with how we fix our society but im confident this thing you posted isnt it. You need to say something about why the cultural difference might be so plain, and also normalize that cultural difference in a way thats relatable. The OP here meant well, its incumbent on us to explain why that meaning didnt come across without changing his feelings too much.

Kurds are a completely seperate and distinct culture. If you live in america you should read the wikipedia page about kudistan. In fact i would say you have a moral responsibility to educate yourself on a nation that was a military ally to your nation in a conflict active during your lifetime. If you want some spoilers, the US doesnt treat them great in the end.
