Good explanation of the milk run. That’s way too exhausting and not worth the pay. Just think of yourself as a boss. You’ve fired these companies because they’re not working good for you. People don’t understand truck driving. Most of these companies aren’t worth staying at. The ones that are good lay you off.

Was looking into the MDT/411 program myself since I only have a class B, wouldn’t mind eat shit for a year for the class A program and experience but keep hesitating if I wanna run myself that thin. I work for a municipality(village) so get to use equipment, dump trucks, water & sewer calls etc. Your channel is helpful and glad to see you climbing back in the saddle

I understand that is a tough decision. If you are looking to get your CDL A and pursue a career in trucking then from I can see MDT is a good place to do that. I believe that you have to do a 1 year contract and then your training is free. One benefit of MDT is that they actually train pretty well. Versus some trucking schools who just push you through and take your money. In this day and age you don't want to just get your A endorsement without knowing the laws etc.... That kinda sets you up for failure. You get on the road and get a bunch of violations and end up working for crap companies that take advantage of you. I don't think that the money is all that great when you 1st start. I worked there for years and I have alot of experience so I had the golden runs.... I personally think freight is much easier than milk tanker. But it would get you started and you can do whatever you want after that. I myself would ask to train with a 53ft trailer as well as tanker if they would do it, just so you are good with a 53... Hope that helps... Good Luck..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I may try and setup an appointment and talk to them in person, I grew up with my dad hauling steel coils or bumping docks. Not too keen on driving facing camera they might see more than they bargained for but that’s fine with me. My current salary is like 53k but the benefits are decent but only get paid biweekly got bills and a house and shit. Anyways hope this new gig pans out I’ll be checking for the update as you go 👍🏼🍻

@timbrooks4350 I don't think they have driver facing cameras... Just forward facing cameras. I understand that bill's and money thing... To be honest at first you will probably only make around 17k more per year than what you are now for more work and hassle... But in the long game you will be pulling 75k to 85k in no time... Or more...

@@truckertrashdustin 2500-3400 miles a week in dry van we run west coast a lot and back it’s pretty laidback. We also got dedicated in some areas . I’m on the refrigerated side i average about 2700 miles every week plus detention pay, we also have a flat bed division . Crete is a debt free company so we have a lot of freight and freedom here it’s pretty chill I think you’ll like here I’ve been watching you for a while now.

So if you come please look out for me JONTHE is my driver code I hope to meet you one day you’re funny my guy… ***also they don’t hire just anyone they are extremely picky and most of our drivers are older and vets , but they hired me and I had a few job hopping before 😂😂😂 lol

I haul milk, and I've noticed there's sometimes a longer wait for the next load, where b4 I'd have the next run set up b4 I was finished with the current. May be due to cows getting bird flu. But im doing alright. 800 miles a day? I wish. I'm governed at 68.
@truckertrashdustin
@truckertrashdustin 2 ай бұрын
I agree with the wait times being longer now. In my experiences a person needs a dedicated drop and hook to get 800 or more miles a day...

@@truckertrashdustin it does if you work hard and learn the railyards in the beginning when you’re first learning the railyard it’s kind of slow because you don’t know where anything‘s at and everything takes a long time and being paid by the mile you don’t get paid for a lot of wasted time but once you know the rail yards and you can get in and get out without spending all day it’s pretty good I guess depends who you ask you know I’ll put it to you like this I’ve made about 35,000 take home so far and we’re halfway through the year so people may think that’s pretty good other people might not it’s pretty good for me. You might like it because I think you’re in Michigan everything is in and out of Chicago. That’s the other thing though so people can’t deal with Chicago. It don’t bother me though.

It’s kind of one of those jobs that’s like flatbed I think not that it has anything to do with flat bed but I explain it like flat bed is like the type of job you either love it or hate it and I think intermodal is kind of the same way
