Vol. 3 is nostalgic for Brooklyn high school days, started with 4 dope songs, then the garbage started, but he rounded back into shape with Is That Your Bitch, Big Pimpin NYMP and Come and Get Me verses I remember when he spit them on hot 97 before the album came out.

Didn't like most of that album, but NYMP is one of Jay's hardest b-sides. Underrated song. They were asking what else Rockwilder produced for Jay besides "Do It Again," and "NYMP" is the answer.

I hear you on the strong start and finish. Agreed. But, I tend to think that this album was his “club/radio/easy for the listeners” album. That middle section, and the album in general, sees Jay just getting silly with flows too. If your not a fan of that approach, I can see how it could turn you off

Carter was kinda my shit back in the day, had a dope Rakim line in there song with Mariah is brutal Eventually I heard the Dynasty Intro and the rest of that album and just wondered why he couldn’t do that for a whole album Blueprint came as the answer for that and even the pop songs are hard so I can’t complain.

@@Yoda35421 I fuck with your thinking on all counts (which is weird cause I usually see irrational arguments about Jay’s music on theses threads). Blueprint did check all the boxes. And you just made me wonder what an album of “Dynasty Intros” would sound like! That should be the next album.

He got all the joints he produced in bubbba first album dark days bright nights, the Deliverance album, Missy albums, Are we cuttin, Picasso Baby, All the tim produced snoop joints, all Tim produced Luda joints, etc. Tim got more hard rap shit than yall think. I think rappers who didn't get the best beats from Timbaland didn't question it because anything he touched back then was a sure fire hit whether the beat was below par or not. And in The Blueprint 2 could've been a dope album if he cut out the filler and just kept tracks that were good/decent. It could've been a good 10-track album. Although I guess back then, a 14-track album was like the minimum.

Which is why people are down on the album @ the last part of your statement. It’s not his weakest mic performance but it’s not one of his best either. The mic performance on his first 3 albums alone are better and then there’s BP1, BP2, Black album and American gangster. That’s 7 albums that have a better mic pereomance easily imo

@@ihateflatbunz to each his own. The highs imo are better on BP2 than Vol. 3. Vol.3 for the most part is mid Jay in terms of his mic performance and the production he chose for it. BP2 on the other hand has some dope Jay records like Show you how, the watcher 2 with Rakim, some people hate and some how some way. The only problem with BP2 is that it should’ve never been a double album. Too many songs and too many skips but the highs are better than Vol.3 highs imo

On “Watch Me“ the song, Jay-Z has remarkably wittye verses & has great delivery. The hook, which has both J & Dr. Dre, has remarkable flows. By Jay putting in extra bars he is taken as more of a lyricist. Lastly the beat is a symphony.
