At first glance, it may not be easy to see a connection between good cattle grazing land and habitat for wildlife. A new project spearheaded by the Alberta Conservation Association, called Species Habitat Assessments & Ranching Partnership (SHARP) operates between Calgary and Peace River, works with producers from the cattle industry to improve cattle grazing land while maintaining and enhancing wildlife habitat. This video looks at one example west of Edmonton called the Tomahawk Ranch. Financial or in-kind contributors include Alberta Fish and Game Association, Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Wildlife Preservation Canada, Huvan Construction, Alberta Bat Community Program, and Wildlife Conservation Society Canada.
