Godzilla minus one is my favorite movie. I’m afraid of many foreign people don’t understand that meaning of black rain after Noriko was blown out in Ginza. That was the black rain containing large amounts of radiation that we Japanese experienced in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Please enjoy this movie. But please remember that originally Godzilla was Anti-war films. Thank you.

I didn’t think a Godzilla movie would make me cry or care too deeply about the humans and this movie made me cry and care about the humans. Even watching you watch it made me cry. Excellent film!

I saw Godzilla Minus One in the theatre, totally was emotionally moved and enjoyed it then. Saw it again online with English dubbing. still enjoyed ... but reading the subtitles in the theatre made the story more moving. Seeing your reaction was great man! Thank you for sharing your reaction with us followers!

HOLY CRAP, do I believe the Oscar hype!!!! Minus One was beautifully done and animated. I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived, but those Godzilla cells literally saved her neck.

The artists and craftspersons who assembled this film created Minus One from a love and passion for the the original Gojira, hence the tiny budget - the film is made from love, not money. Take note, America. 70th anniversary of Godzilla, bookended by Gojira (1954) and this (2024), the 2 best Godzilla movies hands down. The film was rumored to cost 15 million, a private joke amongst the creators. It was more like 11 to 12 million.

You should see the original Gojira (1954); in its day, it was almost as impactful. The main theme in this reboot was the military march composed for the original. In the original, the director made sure that one of the Tokyo buildings the audience sees destroyed is the historic movie-premiere theater that is their counterpart to Hollywood's Mann's Chinese Theater-- The premiere audience saw the monster destroy the very building in which they were sitting!

Great film. I like that they understand the nuances of post-War Japan so well even down to the frustrating disarmament clauses that weren't lessoned in the face of a murderous God-Lizard. It should be noted that the Heavy Cruiser Takao did a lot of damage with its 8-inch guns that fire 278 lb. AP shells. If the Allies had allowed the Japanese to use the Nagato, with her 16 inch guns, they would have ended Godzilla there. The 2250 lb. AP shells would have been quite a bit more effective.

Crying during a Godzilla was not on my 2024 bingo card...this is such a great film. If you liked this movie, you should also watch Shin Godzilla(2016). It's not as emotionally resonant as this movie, but it's still a really great movie too. And I will say that Godzilla is MUCH scarier in Shin Godzilla!

I think you don't understand what makes Godzilla Godzilla. Thanks to ToHo allowing Hollywood to make their own versions of their movies there are now more than four Godzilla film universes. In the beginning there was only the ToHo movies. It started with the first 1955 Gojira (the Japanese name for Godzilla) movie. They wanted to capitalized it in America so they gave permission to a distributor to do English dub overs. The filmmakers from Hollywood decided to make a little more American. To accomplish this they shot new footage with Raymond Burr as their star. The combined it with the original footage to create Godzilla King of the Monsters. Both versions did very well but the Japanese version did better. So when they dubbed Godzilla Raids Again for an English version the American studio didn't want to call it Godzilla so instead they called it Giganta. As a result of this decision many of the Godzilla films that were dubbed over later had the dialogue and titles radically changed. For example Godzilla vs Mothra became Godzilla vs The thing. After the frustration of the American butchery of The Return of Godzilla by the Americans and retitle the Godzilla 1985... ToHo decided to take full control of their franchise when it came to the English dubbing. When the Americans wanted to start releasing Godzilla theaters again ToHo so that would only happen if they make their own Godzilla film. ToHo how do I have final say on the films that America makes. Out came the Matthew Broderick Godzilla which pissed off a lot of American fans of the original Godzilla series. Which prompted a new version of Godzilla for the 21st century. The American Godzilla films freed up ToHo to take their time on making Godzilla films this brought about shin Godzilla and now the first academy award film in the franchise Godzilla - 1. So you see the transformers Godzilla as you call it is the American version of Godzilla and not the official ToHo Godzilla franchise. Don't get it wrong, ToHo is still making a shitload of money off of the American franchise but the American franchise is still not official Godzilla.

There are many iterations of Godzilla from Toho over the years. He can be the villain, hero, or anti-hero. The Monsterverse stuff is not meant to be taken as serious as movies like Minus One. But i get it if someone is not a huge Godzilla fan to begin with and dont understand the history of Godzilla over 50+ years.

@@DJAnubisMetalTavernRadio what you call multiple universes or different takes on Godzilla... It's still boils down to one thing, the American Godzilla films are not official Godzilla movies. In fact there is only one version of the Godzilla monsters created for American audiences that ToHo have adapted to their own monster lineup that's the Matthew Broderick Godzilla. True they dropped the god from it and renamed it simply Zilla but he's now an official monster in the ToHo film series. The new monsters and the new version of Godzilla in the new American films have not been recognized bye ToHo in their monster movie lineup. At least not to my knowledge. I'll have to go to Japan and stay at the Godzilla hotel to find out. All the official Godzilla monsters are in that hotel and are labeled as official ToHo monsters.
@DJAnubisMetalTavernRadio

@@BondFreek Toho added Zilla ONCE as to poke fun at how bad of a design it was. Even Kitamura's character pokes fun at it in the dialog in Final Wars. Either way Toho had to give permission to use Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra for Legendary. Are you saying they no longer claim those monsters as part of their roster? So no, i disagree with you here. You can look at it however you want but its a non-sensical approach to me and the only that matters is Toho is 100% of the Monsterverse and has said so many times. Have fun at the Godzilla hotel, i hope to visit Japan someday myself as ive been a G and Kaiju fan for 50 years.

@@user-jo3dp1so6r I have been a huge Godzilla fan since I was first introduced to the franchise play my big brother. He snuck me downstairs at midnight when I was 7 years old. Back then there was only four channels ABC, NBC and CBS affiliates add a PBS channel. Are ABC affiliate had a late night movie airing the only played scary movies (no host) it was called Shock Theater. That particular night they were playing Godzilla king of the Monsters starring Raymond Burr (Perry Mason/Iron Side). I was 7 years old and the movie gave me nightmares for a week and I loved it. When I discovered there were other Godzilla films I had to watch each and every one that was aired at that late hour no matter how goofy they got. What makes Godzilla - 1 and shin Godzilla such great Godzilla films is they brought back the scare that I felt when watching that original version of Godzilla.

Yes that’s a real plane but nobody had ejection seats yet so I don’t know what doc was talking about. The German were just experimenting with them cause they had jet fighters

If you watched the film carefully, the seat had German lettering on it.
@RealBLAlley

Doc was criticizing the Japanese government for not developing them sooner, since the basic design existed as far back as the 1920s and other countries like Germany and Sweden had them in the early 1940s. The Shinden did not have ejection seats, but it's historically plausible that one or more were shipped to Japan from Germany aboard submarines, as was the case with many supplies. Perhaps Tachibana found one in that warehouse where the Shinden was discovered and installed it. That is backed up by the German placard on the seat. A lot of care went into the movie to be as historically accurate as possible.

One thing most Americans don't understand about kamikaze pilots is that they were the best of the best of the best. Japan had a very strange sense of Honor and lack of values of life. In order to be a kamikaze pilot (suicide bomber) you had to have King reflexes, expert marksmanship, and the ability to fly and shoot down any airplanes faster than anybody else. You had to have the ability to fly a plane through a tunnel, past enemy combatants without damaging your airplane all for the sole purpose of killing yourself while taking out the target. So if anybody says to you that there are kamikaze pilot you better respect them and not just because they survived the war.
