Is Zamość the most unique city in Poland?

After spending over two months in Poland, I arrive in my final Polish city before crossing the border into Ukraine.
Zamość was founded in the late 16th century by Jan Zamoyski. The centre of the city was added to the World Heritage List in 1992 for being "a unique example of a Renaissance town in Central Europe".
The city is unlike other cities in Poland. It was built in accordance with Italian Renaissance theories on the creation of “ideal” cities and it is mostly still intact.
In this video, I explore the historic centre and enjoy the unusually quiet streets of this historic Polish city.

I remember Zamosc so differently. Granted this was 20 years ago. But it was so lively, so many people in the square, so many restaurants to choose from with beautiful outdoor seating, gardens. I wonder if everything there closes down for the colder months.

What an interesting looking place! Reminds me of the dead midwest towns in the USA. I'm researching polish towns and cities to visit. Never been out of the country before and I've got my eyes on POLAND! Is this in October? Thats when I'm planning on going. Any tips/advice? Cool video!

The fortifications you saw are original. Zamość was one of the few areas in Poland that wasn't bombed to smithereens during both world wars because of those fortifications, the other was Kraków. Jan Zamoyski was the man who built Zamość and is named after him. He was an interesting chap, a military man very high up in the ranks, was granted the land the town is built on after several strategic battles by the King of Poland at the time. It was built shortly after Venice was built in collaboration with an Italian architect, there is a plaque in the main square commemorating this. Beautiful but small town. There's lots of places to eat there with very good food, mainly in the main square

Best months to visit the Zamość are from June to August, all events and festivals take place during this period. During the rest of the year the city is pretty dead. Cool video by the way, thanks for sharing :)

@@globaltreats Funny comment. 😂Zamość is not dead or empty. 😱What did you expect in a cold October? Thousands of people sitting outside? People are at work, children at school, busy with everyday matters and not sightseeing.

Jan Zamoyski, the founder of the city, lived from 1542 to 1605. Then he was such a powerful magnate that he often argued with the contemporary King of Poland. The king lived in Kraków, which is why Jan did not like the city of Kraków itself. That is why he decided to establish a city that would be more beautiful than Kraków. This history can also explain Zamość meticulous appearance.

You've got almost every nice place in Poland.Except North West. Szczecin, Kolobrzeg etc. Good Performance.

Zabka (The Frog) used to be polish now israelic/Luxemb. Company is the only Discounter who can be open everyday because it has a bankomat and its a Post stop.
