This game is remembered for the Chupa Chups sponsorship in the Amiga and CD32 version (and some versions, like Game Gear). The CD32 version of this game has a soundtrack by Neil Biggin and is known for the warning about inserting the game disc on a cd player and plays track 1. This game is known as Zool no Yume Bouken in Japan on the Super Famicom and Game Gear.

ズールの夢冒険 (zuuru no yume bouken) translates to "Zool's Dream Adventure" for anyone curious. It's not a bad concept... setting aside whatever the actual original story is, it makes a LOT more sense out of the crazy myriad of locales to say "Yeah you're running through people's dreams" or something like that when you jump from a land made of sweets to a hardware store lol

Always think back to the endless amount of mascot platformers in the 90s, the dozens of ads for them in gaming magazines, and how everyone knows at least one kid whose parents bought them for a Christmas gift instead of something like Sonic 2 or DKC. I think I must be messed up in the head because I love the look of Amiga games. Not that I've seen many since I live and grew up in the States but it has it's own style where you take one look and say "That's an Amiga game." They're unique. They look like an Acid Trip and this one looks like Alice in Wonderland and Candyland had a baby at the Kobra Kai dojo, but you rarely see anything else like it on other systems. The only three I can think of is Sonic CD along with Knuckles Chaotix, and Tempo on 32x. But on Amiga it was practically every game I've seen and I applaud them for it, because I'm clearly out of my tree here.

Zool is the type of game that makes a lot more sense on the Amiga and Atari ST than the Mega Drive and SNES. The game was designed around a single button controller and the 16-bit computers didn't have platform games of the calibre of Mario and Sonic. Zool was possibly the best mascot platformer on the Amiga, which probably says a lot.

The music actually seems pretty good, might have to check out the OST thanks to this!

i'll never understand how the developers, testers, anybody would think this type of camera that flails around at a 100 mph is ever a good idea

Yeah, I've tried to play this game, and I want to like it but the camera is just awful. Makes me dizzy and makes the game unplayable for me.

Just looking at it, what I don't like about it is that the camera lags slightly too far behind your character when you start running, putting you too close to the approaching edge of the screen and not giving you enough time to see incoming threats. I mean did you think we wouldn't notice how you were getting hit every 2 seconds for almost the entire video?

Zool was my favourite game on the Jaguar. My second favourite game on the Jaguar was Bubsy. I think it says more about the Jaguar's library than my taste in games.

I LOVED Garfield & Friends. Owned like 20 of the comic books and watched it religiously when it became a show. They had some CRAY episodes.
