There is a very solid reason for Netero choosing Pariston as his vice. He did not want someone that agrees with him on everything. He wanted someone that tells him no and that he dislikes. He never elaborated on why but I believe it is for 2 reasons. The first being that Netero would find it incredibly boring to work with someone who just nods along. The second being that someone who challenges every single idea of yours and tries to drag you down would be an incredible motivation to better yourself everyday and make your points/ideas impecable. Without someone that challenges your ideas, you will not grow mentally.

The useless fact isn't useless. The left arm and right leg that Netero lost was part of the bias Meruem talked about. Netero favors his right arm and left leg as seen in his flashbacks and the fact that he reflexively used them when playing with Gon. Meruem, instead of removing Netero's favored limbs did the opposite, leaving him a stronger state while still trying to beat him.

His conditions were part of what made his ability so powerful as an enhancer. Having to manually perform 99 different movements for each individual attack while also having to bring his hands together between each action is a strict feat that only he could accomplish with his unmatched speed, not to mention his zero hand, which was only achievable at the cost of using all of his aura, meaning certain death if the opponent were to survive it.

The chimera ant arc is one of my favorite pieces of anime, and Netero was a huge part. It's been years and I am still watching videos about it.

He is my favorite character in Hunter X Hunter, I was kind of upset that the Meruom was revived after their fight. I never cared to much for the Chimaria Ant arc (Yes I'm sure and unpopular opinion) I thought they were way too strong for having no training no idea what Nen was then being able to use it with no instruction.

This show and the lore that comes with it is beyond what my humble words can describe. Without a doubt HXH is one of the most detailed and intricate stories I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing!

Quick thing, Netero never said that there were 4 or 5 nen users equal to or stronger than him. Bisky had mentioned to Gon that Netero considered Ging to be one of the top five nen users in the world. Which doesn't exclude himself from being on that list. What was stated, and is not very reliable coming from Netero himself, is that he was considered the strongest Nen user in the world 50 years prior to the Chimera Ant Arc, and that he was supposedly only half as strong as he was in his prime, which he equated to being as strong as Knov and Morel. Which they stated wasn't true. It should be noted that Netero may very well have been the strongest nen user in the Association, as Knov expressed that if Netero couldn't take on Pitou directly, it's unlikely anyone in the Association could. He also trained for the month leading up the his fight with the Ant King. So basically, it's unknown how many, if there are any at all, nen users are stronger than him.

To me, he's not good or evil, he just exist and he truly understand the world that he lives in. He understands that his world is full of powerful beings and things he can't control. To survive and thrive, one has to be strong enough to do so.

Netero since the very first time I saw him has been my favorite HxH character who was an enigma to me due to my small brain. But after watching you explain his character and point out details that I have either forgot about or completely over looked I've gotta say that if I ever had any doubts about him being my favorite character in HxH there is now none. I think it's worth noting that Netero didn't just throw 10,000 punches a day. If you look back into martial arts history, this bit is actually an homage to the classic ideology present in Wolff's Law when applied to martial arts, i.e. bones in the human body will adapt to the loads they are required to carry. This application is present in many "superhuman" feats related to martial arts most famously practiced by Shaolin monks , through qigong exercises, or other neigong training exercises. To understand why Netero would make the decision to throw 10000 punches a day, one needs to understand the overriding reference to his personal philosophy. In many ways, Netero could be considered a practitioner of the Dao, or "The Way." Dao is a philosophy of devotion to perfection in its barest terms, which by no means describes the totality of the belief and its fundamentals. But to Netero, it seems to be that simple. Well, it isn't. Netero did not just throw 10,000 punches every day. He saw his practice as an offering to his god, and so, prayed before each punch while touching his palms together. While it isn't mentioned in detail in the video, Netero was capable of performing this paired action in a span of time that not even Meruem could react to initially. More importantly, even after Meruem severed one of Netero's arms, the human was still able to perform his prayer, meaning it wasn't solely the motion that was the catalyst for his Nen ability. Enlightenment through the Dao is often misconstrued as an ascension of sorts, but for Netero, this idea is personified. Netero would never abandon his Dao, and that force of will is what made his Nen so potent that it defied logic. There is a famous quote by Bruce Lee that pertains to the physical aspect of Netero's practice, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." In this we can also see an underlying sense of respect for any individual who was able to perform this task to such a degree, and by someone who was once well known for throwing the fastest punch. To put this into perspective, a healthy adult human's respiratory rate will average 12-18 breaths per minute. In a day, that's 17,280-25,920 breaths, and most of that breathing is done autonomously. Netero started by taking 1 purposeful breath for each prayer and punch combined, a common practice in neijia. This means Netero was initially spending 38-57% of his days manually breathing. A large part of neigong and qigong exercise is associated with breathing and meditation, whereas waigong is more associated with external skill. The more skilled with neigong Netero became, the more his skill in waigong improved. He was not simply building his body through rigor and endurance alone, he was also cultivating his spirit. Now take a closer look at what I've written and examine the tenets of Nen and the methods of controlling aura. Compare them for yourself and try to understand Togashi's intentions in developing the concept of Nen.

isn't his hatsu all about time manipulation? it wasn't stated but my theory is that he could manipulate/slow time whenever he prays and does strike accurately after a prayer. however, the actual buddha strike moves in normal time. Zeno Zoldick himself said he had a unique experience of time compression in the chimera ant arc.

Fun fact the person who loves the most is the one who can hate the most. Netero had so much hate in his heart that he let it out on meruem there for surpassing all Ren in the series

You didn't mention the thing that make netero strongest point. His aura is quiet like a tree. Which just means that his nen doesn't telegraph his attacks. Which is something we have not seen before, all nen users telegraph what they will do roughly, so they've got to hide their intentions with faints and In or zetsu. Netero doesn't need to use faints, because he doesn't telegraph his attacks in the first place, which is why the king is able to find the "flow" of board players but he could not find exactly the flow of netero(or kumogi), just a hint of a small implicit bias that is too small to even be called that.

When you think about it netero really wasnt on the level of nen users like ging, meruem, the royal guards or the other top 5 nen users etc. He had reached his potential and the only way to go beyond his limits was to devote a decade to this insane training. Meanwhile the others reach that level without having to repeat one single movement for a decade. If ging is a top 5 nen user then imagine how much more powerful he'd be if he did the same training. Or imagine gon and killua reaching their potential and then doing something like netero did. Theyd probably be near post nuke meruem level

Literally netero was the most badass character in the hunter x hunter universe.

Your videoes makes my day even better. The flow of the video and you going deeper about his charactert and personality was really great. That forshadow of his leg and arm was something that I didnt even see or think about. After the Chimera Ant Arc, Netero became my second favorite character along with Leorio. I really. I saw like a 25 long video of the KZfaqr Aleczandxr that went so deep into Netero character that just made me love the character more and more. He has made many Hxh videoes that goes deep into these character and his videoes made me get a deep understanding of how much work that the writers put into their characters that we really dont see until we dig deep into them.

Well imo, Netero's 100-type guanyin bodhisattva also uses Transmutation (just like how Morel transmutes aura to mimic smoke, then manipulating it). In Netero's case, he mimics the properties of a golden guanyin bodhisattva statue. Then Emmission for aura separation from his body. He then solved the problem with his Manipulation effectiveness via his ridiculous prayer activation requirement. His Zero Hand ability is also a form of Transmutation + Emmission + Manipulation. I also think his original affinity of Enhancement nen skills (Ren, Ken, Gyo, Ko, Ryu, Shu) are just basics to him - no big deal, but ridiculously effective.

I'd like to point out that Netero most likely used a restriction on his Hatsu which required a state of calmness and gratitude and instantly turn it into a powerful attack all in a .1 of a second. Furthermore Netero uses his enhancement ability directly on the hatsu itself on the power of the attacks in the hatsu's fists
