"You understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for malice" I've never seen that line translated that way, in the version I watch it was "Infinite potential for growth" however Malice is a much darker and more interesting spin on it, particularly since its said right before the Poor mans rose is used.

Malice is the official word used in the manga, however, in the anime it had a more lighter tone, it was "evolution".

It means both. You'd need to find the raws but I'm pretty sure the kanji for evolution are above the kanji for malice as furigana, or the other way around. But it's definitely both. For people who don't know how furigana works it's a way to make Kanji easier to read by putting the phonetic pronunciation above the characters. In this case he's putting kanji above kanji in order to give the word a double meaning of sorts.

Yet malice is much more appropriate, meaning meruem had been naive in figuring out netero's true intentions , evolution makes it look like it was netero's secret weapon

@@gigeisback that was actually the point. It was revealed IN THAT SCENE that he had a fucking nuke on a kill switch implanted into him. Netero was certain that he had already passed his prime (this dude used to be stronger than the fight he displayed with Meruem) and although he could still display great strength, his power was slowly ebbing away as time wore on. The "malice" or "evolution" that he achieved was the ability to kill whoever it was that was strong enough to beat him in a fight. This was excellent wordplay from the writers, although I admit it is much more clear with Timo's explanation of Kanji and furigana.

@@TimoKanal i think you're right that the ones for evolution are above malice since tit makes more sense for the actual meaning to be evolution while the added double meaning is malice. It doesn't make sense for netero to actual say malice there for his character which is why I think the actual meaning is evolution, but for the theme of the arc the word malice makes sense as the extra meaning.

@@VbrSoro I remember it was mentioned that when zeno zoldyck was an infant and still breast feeding that netero could already be called an old man, as in netero is much older. (Assuming that you were refering to zeno the grandfather of killua)

The part where Meruem says "Are you satisfied now" and Netro replies saying" You believe I can't pray with a single arm" This made my body shakes which means you killed it XD... And by the way those cinematic titles where awesome :) Hunter X Hunter was gonna be a perfect anime if they didn't mess it up with there Greed Island arc :( ننتظر المزيد اخوي عادتا اعطي رئيي بالانكليزي نظرا لكون معظم المتابعين اجانب...على العموم نجاح باهر في المقطع :)

GI arc was done cleverly, it helped Gon and Killua to train, the acompany card was planned to take Gon to Kaito if he goes with some friends (killua) else he would have used the other card (forgot the name).

Without a doubt this sets the bar for the trope:Taking you with me. It is a twisted view but Netero could be viewed as the most dedicated suicide bomber ever displayed on anime. Far surpassing Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion, 16 from DBZ, Old Man Fu from FMA:Brotherhood, Genos from One Punch Man, and even Vegeta from DBZ. The last one which I never believed would have been surpassed. HxH has taken this trope and brought it to its furthest boundary just like it has with other tropes.

I mean.. there's even the skull behind him that represents "malice" idk why they translate it to evolution even though clearly from the context of the story it's 'malice', few episodes later, togashi shows humans' malice when they created these nuclear bombs. I know that the japanese word takes both meanings but in the manga, togashi used Malice specifically.

He was around 65-75 when Zeno was born, which was the last days of his prime. Peak at 60ish. Zeno is 65-75 making Netero at least 125+. Began training at 45 on mountain, came down 5 years later. What's more impressive is that the Budda is a emission, conjuration and manipulation Technic. Netero being an enhancer means the budda is only 60% of its full potential. He does use enhancement to increase his speed to begin the budda attack. You may think it falls under specialist but author states Netero is a Enhancer. We also know that the amount of aura a person has the better their overall defence. Meruem having the most amount of aura seen, Netero second and Youpi third. Prime Netero would have at least double the reaction speed/attack speed and defence/attack power in the fight plus at least double the aura (Zero hand). Meruem states that the pray is the only thing Netero had that greatly out classed him in speed. If all of Netero's abilities are doubled i don't believe Meruems strategy's will prevail before Netero deals a significant blow to Meruem. To argue for Meruem, post rose Netero would lose as Meruem more the doubles his EVERYTHING.

numerically speaking youre right about the buddha not being the strongest it could be, but that ability gives him such versatility in combat, that it more than makes up for it. and i personally dislike all these theories about prime netero defeating the king when the king is only this strong. as you know, meruems ability allowed him to add anyones strength he ate to his own, talking about pre and post rose meruem feels like ppl are forgetting this. when ppl are theorycrafting like this, is like matching one characters strongest to anothers weakest.
