It's so easy for companies to treat dissatisfied customers as such bc there are so many Karen's making false claims. It really sucks for those people out there with legitimate issues. Now companies should be doing their due diligence but it definitely gives scam companies all the more reason to blame their shortcomings on innocent consumers.

I ordered a couch 6 months into the pandemic at a local furniture store. The sales woman was very clear that it would be at least 6 months because of delays. I paid for half the couch upfront and then waited. It took 8 months but I got the notification of shipment, paid for the second half of the couch, and now it's been in my living room ever since. I'm shocked that companies are still using the excuse of the pandemic just to be scamy.

That’s pretty normal like it has been for ages. Furniture stores only have show items and since a lot of furniture can be customised (different legs under the coach, this fabric or less or more stiffness.) Therefor it’s just impossible and a lot of work to have everything in stock. So it will be made when ordered. And to make those furniture workshops be more efficient they will produce in badges. So let’s say they wait till they sell 100 tables. then woodworkers can make everything in one go. And then it gets shipped to you. So it really makes a difference if you’re number 1 of the 99 in de line haha 🤓

Contract law is pretty basic. If you do not get exactly what you ordered, it is a breach of contract. If it is something small, the company may be able to pay the difference between what you paid for and what you received. However, if it is a material breach, like the fvcking couch never arrives, the company must refund the entire purchase price, and perhaps more if you were out costs for not having what you paid for. Some states allow you to seek reimbursement of legal fees, but it depends on the state.

The company was so incredibly helpful in assisting us in choosing a replacement when it wasn't possible to go in-store and see it in person. Honestly, this sounds like one of those "entrepreneurs" who thinks drops shipping is a real business strategy. My theory is that they only order the inventory AFTER you pay them because they don't have the liquidity to have a warehouse of stock. And they are 1) ordering from a cheap factory in China which is why the items take so long to ship, and 2) they don't appear to be the same items on the website because they use the images from the manufacturer which (if you've ordered from Chinese companies like Shien, Alibaba, or Wish you'll already know this) show materials that aren't actually used. I don't believe the company is keeping the money out of spite - i believe they don't HAVE the money to refund because they already used the money you paid with to buy the couch from China in the first place which is why they're delaying until they make enough money to refund you. They're not a big brained scammer, they're a smooth brained idiot who really thought drop shipping furniture would work in a legit business and it's crashing and burning.

THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE: the poor customers who didn’t get what they ordered or in the bs “we won’t refund/ and you didn’t get your couch” should hire an attorney an sue for breach of contract. This isn’t a complex case and they should be able to get a low cost attorney. I am so confused by this... I would understand buying from a virtually unknown company if they had amazing prices, but these prices are not significantly lower than the thousands of other companies that are actually reputable and have good reviews. Why are people buying from this company? No one deserves to be scammed, but at what point do we need to hold customers accountable for being silly? The many, many bad reviews are up for everyone to see yet people are still buying from them. It just doesn't make sense. Either way, hopefully they get shut down because it's obvious they are bad at what they do and downright dishonest. It almost sounds like they're a drop shipping company buying furniture from China and then trying to ship it to customers in the US, but then when there's a shipping issue they can't get it resolved because they don't control the warehouse or shipping logistics. A mess.

Because we have a shepherd who likes to cuddle we thought this was a great option. What they don’t tell you is that the velcro on the bottom that attaches the cover gets tangled into the couch cover and eats away at the material. I have one of their couches and after months and months of my shipping date being pushed back I finally got my couch. Then 8 months later all of the zippers have ripped, and the “feathers” inside are all torn apart. My couch won’t zip up and is so lumpy. I paid $2400 total. Their warranty doesn’t cover anything at all! Their customer service is horrible, text is the only way to contact them. They have sooo many lawsuits and the BBB has flagged them for stealing!

While this company is blatantly scamming people and should absolutely be shut down, those saying "The pandemic isn't an excuse anymore." massively underestimate just how badly the pandemic screwed up the retail industry as a whole. There are supply shortages across the board. Orders that use to take a few weeks were taking 5+ months. On top of that, the ports are so backed up and short staffed that sometimes containers would be sent away to another port, but we couldn't get them until they had room to send it back to the original port. This could sometimes add another month or two on the original timeline given. So please, if the company is actually trying to be up front about the delays, don't give them an attitude because covid is mentioned.

I got a $1000 couch for free that albeit is damaged (the base got crushed), but it has structurally been holding up for 2+ years. Customer service isn't that hard if the requests are reasonable.

I bought from Valyou the "cloud" two years ago, I had a horrible experience once I got it. The deliverer refused to carrier it up to my house, instead left it in the street. Once open, it was black marks all over it and I had to PAY to send it back for a exchange. Similar to the second tiktok video I guess they changed their material becuase it's absolute crap. I bought it because they claimed it was pet friendly. The slightest friction will fray it and it attracts so much dirt, it honestly looks 10 years old. I unfortunately want to pay for a new couch elsewhere.

I've worked for a company that did similar, shady things. They would take orders for product they didn't have on hand, hold payments for 6 months + and then we would cancel an order when, inevitably, the customer called in passed off that the order was taking too long. Bad business all the way to the bank. The company's accounts payable would literally ignore phone calls from angry vendors who were looking for invoices to be paid.

I actually ordered a small sofa from valyou in September 2021 that arrived early and has been great. But with that said, I’m in the interior design industry and completely understood the risk I was taking, because this is by no means a “luxury” brand, it’s cheap furniture and I wouldn’t expect a large sectional to be well made, reviews are your best friend for companies like this. For the current situations my guess is that the company started growing faster than they could handle and even though a piece may be in stock when it was ordered, it might not be by the time that order is processed and they then have to try and produce more items quickly which would explain items showing up late with different fabrics, etc. But theres no excuse not to disclose any of that information or not offer refunds. Customer service looks like it was outsourced to people who have just as much information as we do and is not being regulated. It makes me sad to see seemingly more accessible furniture companies act like this

reminds me of my sofa disaster of 2020. ordered sofa in a brick and mortar store in december 2019. was supposed to arrive february 2020. well, they did deliver a sofa. it was even the correct model. only i had ordered it in a dark gray smooth fabric. so it would fit with my orange, red, and yellow colour scheme. the sofa they brought? HOT PINK PLUSH. so back it went to the warehouse. another attempt in may. got the 'we tried to deliver, but you weren't home' thing. in may 2020, middle of lock down in germany. second attempt a week later. still no sofa. after several rounds of fighting my way through phone systems i found out: store didn't even have the sofa, supplier had been closed since march, so no timeline of when they would actually build the sofa, and i got the deposit back. in the end i ordered a sofa from ikea, which i got within three days. perfectly good sofa. to this day i get mail from the other store begging me to buy furniture from them. i tried. honestly. i tried really really hard to buy a sofa from them. but after that? i'll only buy what i can carry out the same day from them.

I don’t mean to kick these people while they’re down, because they are victims of a scam, but this is why you don’t buy furniture solely off of TikTok recommendations. They could have spent the same amount of money on a quality piece of furniture from a reputable company like Pottery Barn. When you spend this kind of money on a large piece of furniture it’s a huge deal and the buyer must beware.

I know it is sometimes hard to find the trendy couch you want locally, but if at all possible I highly recommend doing that instead of these online only stores. Too often people have complaints of taking forever or not matching the description. I looked for months and found a couch locally at a company that literally let me switch out the couch I purchased to another one for free because I didn’t end up liking it in the space. Its hard to trust a lot of these websites :(

The only way to resolve this is to contact the FCC. I’ve never had an issue as soon as I file a claim with FCC and let the company know. I've worked in furniture for the past few years and one of the retailers I worked for had wait times like this, and required customers to pay in full upfront. however, we informed customers at the time of purchase of the estimated ship date, and would send notifications anytime a product was delayed further. a customer could cancel their order with no penalty as long as the furniture hadn't left the warehouse on the west coast yet (most of the stuff we were ordering had to come from overseas first, so as long as it hadn't moved from the local warehouse to our store there was no restocking fee) and get a full refund. lots of people were frustrated, and I get that - but there IS truth to the delays in production and inventory and supply chain since covid and they are still going on in 2023. that's not the fault of the retailer or employees. but valyou is very very obviously not handling this the way they should.

Scammers bank on people feeling so ashamed of being scammed that they don't protest. Do not give the scammers that satisfaction. The shame should be on the scammers for still claiming pandemic problems without any of the efforts or transparency that everywhere else has figured out. Pretty sure this place is just glorified drop shipping and swapped to a cheaper knock off of the original knock off they were selling.

We bought an enormous sectional from a bargain outlet during the height of the pandemic. It took 4-5 months to arrive and was exactly what we ordered. Every time we called they informed us about ETA and were responsive. We probably called twice to ask and they blamed supply chain and OFFERED a refund if it was taking to long, but we were happy to wait and understood. Sad that a "luxury" brand can't even do the bare minimum.

From the issues I would guess that they company doesn't produce their own furniture. They're a wholesaler with a distribution company (couch on website) that fell through for whatever reason so they ordered the closest thing they could find (couch people have been getting) and it took forever to ship, probably from China. The company is probably also run by a SMALL team - hints why complaints and social media are collaborating

Get your lawyers involved asap, paying for something and not receiving it is a breach of contract and you are very much entitled to get a refund. Do whatever it takes to get your money back NOW because this company will go into administration very soon and then its too late for you to get your money back. The UK has seen something similar after the furniture company Made stopped shipping furniture, wasn't refunding people and then very quickly went bankrupt.
