Great question Laura. First of all Moshe was not without sin, this is why he was penalized not to enter the land. Secondly, Moshe had a very holy soul as the leader and redeemer of the Israelites. He was willing to give up his life for them, and is equated to and EQUAL to the entire nation. He was the most loyal and trusted servants of Hashem. In a certain way, his soul represents the entire nation as I alluded to in my remark about Isaiah's identification of his suffering servant. Hashem was willing to start all over with him. We owe our lives to Moshe. In a way he carried our sin by working hard in negotiations and prayer to convince Hashem to forgive us. I don't think you can make any comparison to the Jman, although the Xtians would certainly try because they are simply ignorant about the Hebrew scriptures and the true nature of the ALMIGHTY.. The soul that Moshe possessed is the soul of the Messiah. It comes into this world in every generation and when Hashem and the Jewish nation are ready it will be revealed. Moshiach is not God, nor the one who forgives. It is only for Hashem. We don't need moshiach to be forgiven, we need only repent and keep the Law. Gentiles have a different set of rules called the 7 Universal Nohide laws. Meanwhile, those uneducated gentiles are brainwashed by the church into thinking they are born in sin and need a HUMAN like god figure for salvation. This couldn't be further from the truth.
