"It's an unfocused project and that's a criticism" No Anthony, Isaiah is unfocused in his life, and that's why it's a theme of the album. The essence of great music is telling YOUR story. Really weird that you don't get this
@remingtonbianchi9866
@remingtonbianchi9866 3 жыл бұрын
It’s like saying “The Life of Pablo isn’t focused.” Yes, that’s the entire point. Kanye is divided between being a Christian and his egotistical natural self. Zay is lost in his life, he’s struggling with substance abuse, his upbringing, his fatherhood, and his life as a rapper. These guys seemed to turn their ears off to listen to this one.
@ugonwigwe5136
@ugonwigwe5136 3 жыл бұрын
@@remingtonbianchi9866 in my opinion TLOP's messy aesthetic sounds purposeful and ironically focused, with the fantastic production and kanye's themes of family, religion, hedonism, fame, etc. he touches on different things to keep you interested. here some of the beats are pretty boring and uninteresting, and isaiah rashad's mumbled delivery gets really tedious towards the end like they said. and its unfocused nature detracts from the album. obviously hes unfocused, but in my opinion he has to have something pop to keep the listener interested, like the amazing woozy production on cilvia demo. doing something badly on purpose does not automatically make that thing good. i liked this album more than them but their criticisms are on the mark. its just too sleepy and uninteresting for most of its runtime in my opinion :/

How to get respect for your album from Anthony Fantano: 1. Let your first project be extremly mediocre so that he categorizes you as a low level artist for all times. Then make your following projects just slightly better, exceeding his unflexible expectations. 2. Only release one very good project in your lifetime and then never again. 3. Be Kendrick Lamar, Death Grips or dead.

I don't believe Luke listened to this more than 3 times. this is not an album you play once and find a conclusion. I believe (plenty of others) and myself listened to a completely different project. Not once did either of you reference his possible dropping of the label in regards to the lp title, his intentional cadence, flow switchups or the lyrics. im feelin a solid 2 of this review.

I listened to this MAAAAAANY times, man. As a big Isaiah Rashad fan, I really wanted to like it but I just didn't. I'm not sure if you watched the whole review but I talked quite a bit about his flow, delivery & lyrics. That was actually the main part that let me down.

+Luke James (Album Reviews) I guess I should be specific. His cadences, flow, and lyrics all relate to something of unison vision in regards to the album title and intent. Which recent interviews of his have you seen?
@lukejamesbgn
@lukejamesbgn 7 жыл бұрын
Trey Allen I watched some of the radio interviews he did and also read some pieces/interviews on various hip-hop sites so I knew all about his substance abuse issues, how he damn near got dropped and how he was trying to mess with some new sounds - I also talked about that in this review, I believe. Even knowing all of that and what he was trying to do with this album, I just really wasn't feeling it much. A lot of it was very sluggish for me, personally - but if you're loving it that's good!
@th3thiiird3y3

+Luke James (Album Reviews) Unless I have missed a new edited upload, I literally typed this comment within one minute in hopes of backspacing it all but that never happened. none of it was brought up. Nonetheless, I'm still confused. you guys mentioned Cilvia was more cohesive and this was dragged out and sluggish. which is interesting because you take away the 1-2 tracks from TST and you're practically left with the same listing as Demo. You enjoyed the first half more ? I believed you stated. (I can see the Cole alternate universe sign) lol
@lukejamesbgn
@lukejamesbgn 7 жыл бұрын
Trey Allen I can't speak for Anthony, but for me, the production is more interesting/varied AND the rapping/content is better on Cilvia Demo. That said, even though this one is only about 15 minutes longer it still makes a pretty big difference for me. Sonically it drags along, the mumbling gets old fast and lyrically I didn't find this as focused as CD. That's just my opinion though!

For me, this interview lost credibility when Luke stated, "this was not what I wanted from Isaiah Rashad. It just felt very dull and unfocused." Any artist that is simply giving the people what they want is not pushing the culture whatsoever. The weaker "artists" create what's assumed of them. The best create a new wave. Yes this album drags on at SOME points, but if you did even an ounce of research you would find that The Sun's Tirade means in Isaiah's words a "long, hot ass day." This project is a roller coaster of emotions, spotlighting mainly on self-reflections through trial and error. Many songs take a left turn half way through for a day/night effect. The album isn't as clean, clear, and crisp as a typical TDE project might be, but as my audio engineer tells me, it's all about the performance and what you are trying to convey. I'm honestly not going to argue that the project deserves more than a 6 to light 7. I might be so inclined as to agree. But even so, I did enjoy the project and feel it will only get better with age. Like with any album, it's not for everyone. But for those who understand it, it's a gem. I give it a 7/10.
@TEFFTPATTERN

If the best create a "new wave" why did Rashad ride an already existing one on this album? He even admitted that in interviews that he wanted to do insert the vibe mumbler feel into his project...

Maybe I could've worded that differently or explained further. He might have taken some inspiration from music he was listening to, but it's all very much his own. He said he's been bumping that "Yachty", but none of these tracks seem like something Lil Yachty would appear on. His album is a contrast to most music being released in my opinion.

The album is called "The Sun's Tirade". If you understand the meaning behind the title you'll understand why this album is such a roller coaster, and more importantly, why it's so long and draining. He's taking us through his experience over the past 3 years. At first it was tough to listen to, but that's what happens with every release of an outgoing, pioneering album. It gets better with every listen.

My Favorite Project of the Year. Compared to Cilvia Demo, its ever so slightly inferior as an overall project but the First Half of ST was better than anything I heard in CD although the second half was very inconsistent but doesn't mean it's bad just some songs are very good and others were bleh. Still love the Project, loving it more per each listen but Cilvia Demo is the better album to me and one of the best albums ever for me.

He kept his personal shit but also kept the vibe which made it my personal favorite Isaiah rashad songs. I don't hate the ablum I don't hate Anthony or Luke or anyone who disagrees. That doesn't have anything to do with quality , once you let your views of music become biased it's automatically invalid. No everything is opinionated , that's just something kids say because they can't think properly and express their thoughts
@shakabrahhhhh

+thedondon911911 it's not a bias its an understanding of what rashad is feeling. its a sympathy thing and obviously u mr cold n calculated arent getting that. theres a lot of shit u cant just put in to a box. isaiah is a rlly smart dude and he did an excellent job appealing to someone who feels the same as him. if you dont feel the same it isnt worse like he said its subjective n ur trying to be way too objective about it. chill out

Liam Slone no its biased lmfao, the minute you use "i" is when you lose crediblity. again you kids are so weak minded that you feel like you NEED to relate to someone to like or get them, lmfao no, it doesn't matter how much you "relate" that doesn't take away from the actual quality and execution of the topic or song, lyric wise he's great but the overall project and production here was bland and most of anthony's points are right, im tired of rap being dumbed down by this era, its fucking sad, people use to debate about hip hop like fans do basketball, long, thought provoking, factual debates are now turning into kids pasting the definition of "opinion" over and over because explaining yourself apperently is beyond everyone's thinking capacity, and its always children to which is fucking hilarious, you dont see grown men or fans of any other genre trying to eraticate the word "facts"
@shakabrahhhhh
@shakabrahhhhh 7 жыл бұрын
+thedondon911911 you could get into music theory and high level writing yes. that is definitely something to take into account when saying whether something is "good" or not but to pretend like music being an art form and art being the way humans deal w the good and bad of our everyday life and who we think we are and what are place is in the world. acting as if u can put it as simply as the production was "bland" is kind of annoying. because ur not being specific the way u just bitched about. im not disagreeing w u on the fact that you can scientifically analyze the piss out of this album and take it apart. but ur kind of missing the entire human psychology part of what makes art subjectively good. not objectively. but if art was made to be objectively good only and not just a way of expressing urself then all wed have is "pop" music. its scientific music. this is music for expression isaiah hits a lot of ppl who are feeling the same way he does and that alone is p great. i think he takes ppl like u into account when making his music and realizes how stupid it would be to lose the art of something to be objectively good. maybe he shud tho so u can shut up w ur weird insecurity about losing touch w the younger generation acting as if its cause theyre naive n they JUST DONT GET IT LIKE U DO BRO. get over urself man
