Last Christmas Eve I was volunteering in a small hostel in Nagano prefecture. We were having a simple dinner w/other volunteers and guests when a random non Japanese guy suddenly joined our very-improvised karaoke, went through the catalogue of our 2003 dusty karaoke machine and sang this song from head to toe, perfect pronunciation, impeccable vibratos, outstanding stage presence... we stared blankly as he left for his room as soon as the song ended, unforgettable.

Absolutely anyone in the world would stare blankly in awe at a chad who could sing this magnificent song perfectly.

Only in Japan can you have someone sing classic TV show theme songs and thousands of people show up. I wish I could go to one, just once.

@phantomwraith19844 жыл бұрын
@@chairmanzia3556 yeah, anthems are meant to get you feeling pumped and patriotic. Considering how deeply woven "Yamato" is in Japanese society going all the way back to the feudal empires, it makes sense for this to sound more like anthem than their real one

u do understand that the word yamato does atualy mean japan civ... well at least a certain era or should i say dynasty?
@kassie33205 жыл бұрын
@@sugamotomagasaki4687 YAMATO refers to the ww2 destroyer at the time the largest in the world for this song at least lol
@Miftahul_7864 жыл бұрын
Kassie destroyer?! It’s a Battleship!
@origamichik3n4 жыл бұрын
@@kassie3320 I love how you are trying to explain Japanese history to a Japanese person. And doing it wrong. "Yamato" is an old historical name for Japan. That is why it was given to one of the two largest warships. Contrary to Germans, by the way, who renamed their pocket battleship Deutschland to Lutzow after the start of WWII in order to avoid possible blow to morale if ship that bears name of the state is sunk.

I was watching Kohei Tanaka being interviewed some years ago. When talking about the very first One Piece opening he composed, he lamented how anime songs nowadays are often made by deals between publishers and record companies, resulting in opening songs that have very little to do with the show itself. THIS is the kind of stuff that will never die.
@Kenji1239 жыл бұрын
Nanastu No Taizai, or The Seven Deadly Sin's Second Opening and first Ending are both related to the anime, which I thought was quite cool. The Opening made it to number 2 on the charts so maybe the Japanese public want an anison resurgence.
@DeltaSilver889 жыл бұрын
OrangeVision I wonder if Toei is an exception then? One Piece and Saint Seiya both have songs that are heavily tied to the series itself. Granted, Saint Seiya is an oldie and making weird songs for the sequels would piss off the fanbase.

OrangeVision You are absolutely right. Songs like this move me to emotion. It's just perfect!

OrangeVision I always wondered why they were so random. I actually just watched SBY recently for the first time. This song was a treat as I watched it!
@shamankid916929 жыл бұрын
OrangeVision i hear ya but there are some exceptions to this for example sailor moons reboot with clover z playing the opening. but i find it interesting on how some opening can give ya a sneak peek into the upcoming events for those who dont read the books. but thats just my opinion from watching over 500 titles from old astro (black and white. thank god i dont have to watch it again) to something modern like log horizon again opinion and these titles just jumped into my head randomly. speaking of oldies im marathon yamato finally found almost everything.
