@@GABEMOORE533 thanks bruh.. soon as you said Mr.Kelly's name.. I was like, "Where in the F--- did I get Kiki Vandeweghe name from?!". Maybe it was because of that alltime NBA highest scoring game they had back in the day.. but yes. Zeke is rarely mentioned in the pantheon, of alltime great PGs. And I also believe by Zeke being left off the Dream Team, kinda causes people to forget, how a great of a player he was, during his era. Wasn't James Long another great player, off those early defenseless Pistons' teams gang?

Isiah Thomas was NOT ahead of his time; Isiah Thomas was 'The TIME'... the Pistons were 'THE TIME' and they have an era, time, culture, and framework that is the resource for championship formula for ages -- that's what Isiah Lord Thomas III established in professional basketball. All of those Pistons: Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Vinnie Johnson, John Salley, Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer, Mark Aguirre, James Edwards, and Rick Mahorn all have their own standard, culture, and legacy because that team and those players and coaches were trend-setters whom EVERYONE hated that was not a Pistons fan. The league HATED the Detroit Pistons and this is why they NEVER show those guys and that team destroying Jordan. The Detroit Pistons from 1989 and 1990 and even before, mentally broke the NBA.

@plainsimple244 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericcleve4447 Exactly... I always say: Isiah Thomas 3, Michael Jordan 1, the one Jordan got Thomas was hurt and the Pistons let that sweep happen to make sure players had more financial benefits through Jordan becoming a global icon, remember, Jordan is 'money' Aguirre, Laimbeer, and Thomas are from Chicago and Isiah was the President of the Player's Association and salaries, bonuses, pensions, and TV revenue went up due to Thomas' negotiations in the 90's...plus, what's the obvious that happened? The Pistons broke up their championship team by not re-signing Vinnie Johnson and James Edwards. So that's obvious, change the competition to help the Bulls. So now what?... The NBA has to create a new foe, the Bad Boy Knicks/The New York Bad Boys - HAHAHA! With Jordan's friends, Ewing and Oakley and Pat Riley replaces Chuck Daly -- that was a complete joke.

People don't understand that Zeke once went through Bird, Jordan, and Magic in their primes to win a championship. Again, he defeated Jordan, Bird, and Magic to win a championship. I'm 41 so I know the most vicious killers I've ever witnessed in the NBA are Mamba, Jordan, Bird, Iverson, and Zeke. Zeke has this cherubic smile but beneath that facade is the most vicious killer to ever come out of the bloody and merciless streets of the Westside of Chicago. I remember from 88 to 91, it was basically he and Jordan battling for NBA supremacy. Side note: Zeke is one of the few players to have a winning record against Jordan which is one of the reasons they don't fuck with each other, MJ hated the fact he couldn't beat Zeke how he wanted to and Zeke HATED the fact MJ was getting Chicago love in his hometown! @@quinntonexecute #FactCheck Jordan was indeed in his prime. Your prime starts when you're typically 25 and they peak around 27 to 29 and then typically decline after 35. From 1988 to 91 Jordan was aged 25 to 28 during those years. However, we didn't get to see Jordan at the "peak" of his prime athletically be he retired at age 29 and didn't come back until he was 31, but then he has to rebuild his body to get into basketball shape after training to be a baseball player.
@mikehamm45

@@quinntonexecute …Jordan was in his prime … Pippen and the others weren’t and he still needed Phil Jackson. Once MJ and his teammates clicked they as history shows unbeatable. It helped that the mileage on the Pistons took a toll, Boston and LA were older, and all 3 saw their talent gutted. The rule changes to protect the player with the ball also helped. But these factors only slightly helped. Even at full strength and in their prime. I don’t think any of those 3 teams could have beaten the 90s Bulls.

I will tell ANYONE, show me where Magic Johnson off the dribble took folks 94 feet consistently to score from the three point line, jumpers in the paint, driving layups or slick passes against players as quick as him or even taller. Magic Johnson didn't have the one on one skills that Isiah Thomas possessed . Magic had incredible talent on all his teams and never had to do the things Isiah had to do to make his franchise great.

You had to see Isiah to believe it. He would control entire playoff games, at 6'1" 180lbs. The other team would surge, Isiah would score 9 straight points and disrupt them. He would grab a loose ball, he would trap a player late in the clock and force a desperate shot. He would take a rebound away from a power forward. He was all over the court and an absolute nuisance on defense. His teams beat Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dominiqe, Ewing...all in the same years. Nasty? He simply greatly outplayed his coverage and won. Some people didn't like that e.g. fans in L.A., Boston, Chicago and New York. So Isiah was "nasty" because he won against their favorite teams and players. He also simply punished and humiliated Stockton and Jordan when they had to cover him. People should go back and look at the tapes and the stats. There is an old saying in Detroit. "Ball don't lie." Isiah was simply extraordinary on another level, even on another level of HOF caliber players.

Isiah is VASTLY underrated today as one of the GREATEST players ever to play the game. Partly 1) because of the media bias against him over his disputes with the worshipped Jordan (Thomas having stopped him even more than Bird and Magic in the 80's), partly 2) because of the Stephan A. machoistic small-minded mindset in sports media today on the number of rings as a qualifier of great players which thinks that two (had a third stolen from him by a bad NBA referee's call) championships are "not enough" (as if basketball is still not a team sport with people winning who would never have on other franchises and even then, when giants of the game with some of the best players and resources of their time at their disposal and with multiple chances at winning championships like Wilt and Jerry West only won ONE ring each and even then ONLY when they were together!), and partly 3) due to the unconscious assumption that as a small point guard, there is no way he could have dominated any of the other "Goat" candidates, other all-time great teams or even the era he played in, but they're wrong because that's exactly what he and his possibly-greatest-defensive-team-of-all-time Pistons did (see Michael Jordan 1987-1990)! Lastly, as an older fan with a love of basketball handling skills and knowing how great Magic and Bird were with the ball, the mantle of ball wizardry on the court that I SAW passed before my own eyes was from Pistol Pete Maravich to Isiah before going on to J Will and Steph and Kyrie today, just as Chris Broussard says here, hence helping to change the way the game is played forever, too, something media talking heads are too dense to appreciate today as a value of "greatness" in contribution to the game (and why Julius Erving should be included in all this nonsense about who was "the best ever!" if this conversation should be had at all, especailly since most of us agree it was MJ after all's said and done, thereby highlighting Isiah's achievements against him and his Bulls even more so). In short, a unique, original and extraordinary talent and yes, LEADER who deserves to be remembered as a mythical icon of this game, too, "up there" alongside the other all-time Greats. facebook.com/foxsports/videos/the-top-5-nba-handles-of-all-time/10156923944874552/

I don't think that most average fans realize just how talented Zeke was. I don't think I did, and I watched this team in my youth. What could he have accomplished in today's era of basketball that plays very weak defense.His toughness, ability to go to the rack at will. Would be something to behold.

Isiah Thomas was legendary from the time he was on the greatest McDonald's All American team ever to his championship Detroit days, he was the standard many teams tried to duplicate Example, the only NCAA champion to win all their tournament games by double figures was the 1981 Indiana Hoosiers. One of the greatest defensive teams of all time were the champion Bad Boys. The MOP and MVP of those title teams was none other than Isiah Thomas.

Jordan, David Stern, David Faulk (Jordan’s agent), and countless advertisers kept Isiah off of the Dream Team because they wanted Jordan to headline the NBA’s introduction to the world without any interferences from a globetrotter like dribbler and passer who’d amaze the crowd and steal the spotlight from Jordan.

He changed his game as far as shooting less, sacrificed points/ highlights for getting others involved which helped their development, Joe D, Salley, Rodman all benefited from his sacrifices and playmaking. Sacrificed his popularity helping turn the pistons into the bad boys from 88-91 with two chips, it was no coincidence that his last all nba team was 87 before they made the finals and were at the height of their powers. Stockton stared making the all nba 1st or 2 me team when Isiah was that for 5 straight years but he turned a lot of people in the off and I think that’s one reason he was snubbed from the all nba teams in his finals and championship years from 88-90. His numbers were better than Stockton, KJ and other guards outside of MJ and Magic except assist and steals and his teams were winning the East or championships. He was easily a top 6 guard during those years for an all nba team imo. He was a winner high School, NCAA and the nba.

Yeah that terrible wrist injury and then surgery he had during the 91 regular season basically decimated his career. 😳 They never talk about the facts that Isiah was not healthy during the 91 playoffs when the Pistons got swept by the Bulls. He missed the second half of the season and came back early for the playoffs and was never healthy.😢
