For all those confused: Omaha Hold'em deals 4 "hole" cards. You MUST use 2 of the four. There are also 5 "community" cards. You MUST use only 3 of the five. You use your 2 cards and 3 from the community to make the best possible 5-card hand. Antonius has an A and 3 as his "hole" cards and uses the 2, 4, & 5 "community" cards to make a A-5 straight. Isildur1 only makes two pair; 5's and 9's with an 8 kicker.

For anyone who is wondering, the odds were 60-40 in Antonius' favour preflop and 55-45 in his favour when all the money went in on the flop.

@vicprobey He is only aloud to use 2 cards in his hand, so he was not able to make a straight. Antonius on the other hand only needed the Ace and the 3 in his hand to make the A 2 3 4 5 straight.

@gunste1n you need to use two cards from your hand and 3 cards on the table, so he doesnt have a straight. if you have one spade in your hand and there are 4 spades on the table, you dont have a flush either :)

not true, because in pot limit omaha even aces arent a big preflop favorite over any hand. especially with 4 connectors like this. hands are made on the flop. and isildur flopped an abosolute monster nut straight draw. i think its called a nuclear wrap but i may be wrong with the terminology.

To those of you saying that Isildur shouldn't have raised the way he did... He could have hit any of the below on the next two draws: 3, 6, 7, 8 That means (as far as he knew): 4(3s)+3(6s)+3(7s)+3(8s) He did the math in his head -- 4+3+3+3=13*2=26% to hit it on the next card, or close to 50% chance to hit it on one of the next two cards. Of course Antonius' 3 takes a bit off of his odds, as does Antonius' backdoor flush possibility. The call made 100% sense.

@ULXB258 Because you can only use two cards and also MUST use 2 cards, you can't use 1 only, that's weird from omaha, if you flop quad aces, it's over, you haave only a pair, and you know you'll never flop three of a kind.

so does isildur actually know how to play omaha or does he think it's like hold'em, cos what i don't get is that he committed himself into an all in and snapped called with an up and down straight where he had his own outs... If it was a bluff it wasnt the smartest one because you were only ever being called by the nuts or a stronger hand whom probably had some of your outs anyways... board pairs up, you're not even drawing to the nuts anymore cos of the full house/quads....
