In 1.20 they added universal dyeing which means you can trade for colored terracotta and redye it. You don't need non-colorred terracotta anymore.
@phiefer3
@phiefer3 8 ай бұрын
That doesn't work for terracotta. You can only redye blocks that have no un-dyed version, such as wool or beds. But things like terracotta and glass, which have undyed versions cannot be redyed. However, I believe the hermits themselves still use their datapack that has allowed redying since before this update.

Just something i noticed with "20 ways to fail" is alot of the games right now are all focused on the idea of falling off. I think it would be go to try and incorporate other ways to fail, otherwise it will just be "20 ways to fall". So things like random chance of explosion, or burning, maybe you could do something like a slime block launching them up or out of the game. Either way this seems like a fun project and loving having you and stress back! Keep up the good work!

If you ring a bell near the villagers they will run back to their beds. It's like a danger warning that makes them run and hide in their "house" (which is normally where their bed is at). Just make sure there's no other bed they could possibly get to that they might think is theirs or they might bolt off after it instead. You might have to just give up on not locking the villagers away. My brothers and I wanted to have an village with free roaming villagers instead of locking them up. The whole village was walled off and lit up. Potentially dangerous areas where blocked off. Nothing was placed right next to the wall so they couldn't get over it. Still villagers kept disappearing. (I still don't know how they were killing themselves.) After like the third round of replacing missing villagers we just gave up and locked them in their houses. Villagers are just too dumb to live.

You may want to consider triple carpet, or rails across the doorway to your workshop of doom to keep villagers in (and if necessary, also hostile mobs out), or minimally add a bell inside the workshop to help limit the amount of villager wandering (although this doesn't solve the morning wandering that they do before "work", only the afternoon wandering until bed).

welcome home Iskall man, I'm sure plenty of folk have already suggested using the double carpet trick or even a line of rails in front of the stairs at the workshop entrance to keep the villagers from fleeing. My last build I wanted villagers to live in specific buildings in my city I was building and used both those tricks as methods to keep them in line. Seems that may be a good solution here for you also. Anyway, glad to see you back and enjoying yourself.

I think you should go with _speluncaforming_ for your cave-shaping. Although we do have the latin word _caverna_ for caves, _spelunca_ is an equally good synonym, and it sounds much more fun. Also, when you shorten _caverna_ to _cave_ or _cavea,_ that actually means "be careful" and "enclosure" in latin, so it would probably be somewhat confusing to you average Roman. Speluncaforming is absolutely the better option 🙂
