Isla Holbox is an island just off of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo. Along with the possibilities to go swimming with whale sharks and bird watching of the over 155 different species present on the island, Holbox has a relaxed environment that feels different than most places. The island's population is less than 2,000 people and it lacks any sign of resorts or chain companies making it feel like an anomaly in the Riviera Maya of Mexico.

Good to see you again. Holbox looks like the kind of quint beach town I would want to visit. It looks like it evolved organically instead of being master-planned like so many tourist areas on the beaches of Mexico. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, the golf carts and scooters will be electric and, therefore, quieter. Thanks for the tour and opinions.

From what I could tell, it seems that it will continue to stay that way. I also loved that the ferries were much cheaper if you were from the state.

Beautiful! You guys should go to Loreto. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. My uncle makes dome houses out there. Really cool.

Looks great. I would love to spend some time there assuming the heat isn't too much for me. Let's hope this place is only as popular as it needs to be and doesn't suffer the same overcrowding that has come to Cancun and Tulum.

Hello! I only caught the price to get to Chiquila, the ferry and breakfast if you were staying at the hotel. The title sounded like you would go more in depth about costs. We are going in April and I was hoping for more information on costs of food, costs of different things to do....

I was just told that Holbox in December is completely dead. Best time to go is summer, I have a trip planned to playacar for next week. And scheduled one day for Holbox, my question is should I do Holbox or try Isla mujeres ?

Cuando yo era niña (hace 50 años)no podías ir a Cancun, mucho menos ahí , te advertían que te podrían comer los lagartos , los jaguares, etc. Saludos desde la merced, en el oriente del CH capitalino.

Hi! We always book directly through the rental company and only use the main companies that we know. This is just to try to avoid anything going wrong even if the upfront costs are a little higher than the other options. We're too scared of the car rental horror stories to try any kind of unknown companies or suspicious pricing.

Omg you come to island where is not transportation and talk about people using motorbikes????? You think you are ????? People needs to get the products to your local restaurant some how???
