The one thing I took away from this interview, those guys in their camp, never make excuses! There’s another video out that shows Islam doing his weight cut before title fight. The Khabib team and AKA set and follow a disciplined schedule. The bottom line is, he was in a tough battle….period! Good stuff guys 🙏🏻

while volk was on weight and already hydrating and eating Islam was cutting and then was given very little time to rehydrate/recover. these are the sort of tricks these people like to play to give a disadvantage depending on where the fight is and against who.

I can write a book on how Australia and their commission tried to gain an advantage but in reality if this rematch ever happens and it’s anywhere besides Perth and their cutting rehydration time this fight will be easier for Islam. A Delfated Islam beat an Inflated Volk. He had his chance, but some fighters like Islam are destined for bigger things.

Aside from Islam, all of the fighters on main card who cut more weight than their opponents lost their fights. Emmett and Brown got starched, the short rehydration times likely affected their performances.

In my opinion Yair was gonna beat Emmett anyways because he was just a vastly better striker and much more mobile and quicker with his kicks. A shorter heavy hitter like Emmett is always gonna have a extremely difficult time fighting a long limbed unorthodox striker like Yair.

He looked bigger against Oliveira. I think the team should have thought of the rehydration time before accepting this fight in Australia. Would have been better for both Islam and Alex with more time after the weight cut, but Alex looked stronger in a shorter time.

He was visibly smaller when he went on the scale compared to last time (despite being 0.5lb heaver), so i think whatever training & cutting program he was on played as much a part as the rehydration after. Anyway everyone had to follow the same regulations so there’s not much unfairness to complain about.

They probably thought it was like New Zealand, since he also says here in New Zealand it was different rules but somehow Australia has different rules, I think UFC should've solved this problem before making fights in Australia, 2 different weight cut rules makes no sense for the organization, if you are fighting in UFC, the rules should be same everywhere, but Australia making their own rules

I think this puts the conversation to rest. Volkanovski is overrated as hell. He fought a completely dehydrated Islam while he himself was in mint condition in his hometown and he stil lost. At first I was thinking, wow Volk is a beast for giving Islam a hard fight despite losing. But after learning about the hydration fiasco that Islam went through, it changed everything. My opinion has become, how on earth did Islam manage to beat Volk? And how much does Volk have to suck to lose to a dehydrated opponent?

You're tapped & know nothing about Australia. Perth is not Volk's home town. Western Australia, especially Perth, regards itself as a seperate country to the rest of Australia. They will do everything they legally can to screw over anyone from the "eastern states". There was no home town advantage. In fact, Volk coming to Perth was a distinct disadvantage. Pretty clear you're just a hater of Volk now he exposed your false hero

Big Khabib and Co fan. But Volk is not overrated. His gas tank is off the charts. Could be problems of Hispanic being dehydrated or someth but have to say Volk doesn’t get tired. @@immortalnightbody The Australian commission took advantage to not let Islam rehydrate properly and also Islam rarely ever fights 5 rounds especially without Khabib in his corner. With all odds stacked against him, he still won. Also if you watch the replays, Volk didn't do shit to Islam until the last 2 min of the fight. All those times Islam got "wobbled" by Volk are level changes for Islam's wrestling. By round 5 Islam was completely drained and gasses out and that's why Islam went to full guard to rest on the canvas. You can. Watch this on MMA GURUs channel. He HATES Dagestanis yet he praised Islam for his performance.
