Volkanovski went out of his weight-class after already clearing out his 145 weightclass and challenged the champ from the next up weightclass which very few champs attempt because it is very difficult to be a double champ. Which is why volk was predicted to be dominated and bruised but that didnt happen. And to many it is argued that volk won that fight. If you look at damage he definitely won the fight. However the judges seemed to put alot of focus on control time or hanging on to dear life by volks back without any ground and pound and i dont mean a lil I mean 0 islam got 0 shots in while having this “control time” and couldnt even get close to a submission. So volks stock sky rocketed him and further cemented him the P4P #1 meanwhile islam got a controversial decision over a champ from a smaller weight class….when islam has not even fought the top 5 of his own weightclass….. when has there EVER been a p4p #1 that hasnt cleared out their weightclass or won in multiple divisions….. it dorsnt happen.
