Haters will focus on volkanovski not having enough time for this fight but Islam didn't beat him through submission, grappling or by tiring him out.. he won by knockout early and that's nothing short of extraordinary against a well rounded volkanovski. I love and respect volkanovski and consider him the goat of Featherweight but we have to put our hands up and accept Islam being the better fighter.

Crazy how Charles has 21 submission wins and is a 3rd degree Jiu Jitsu black belt yet was submissioned by Makhachev. Volk is one of the best strikers in UFC history yet got beaten on the feet by Makhachev. Being able to beat both of them in a short span of time then knock out a living legend like Volk just shows he's levels above the rest. 13 undefeated win streak. He took away a 33 combined win streak plus ko'd Volk, who had not been finished since his fourth pro fight 10 years ago.

His run for the title was incredible everybody was ducking him even when he was scheduled for a title eliminator fight against Dariush he pulled out and today exactly we know the reason why Dana white said that "Islam Makhachev is the boogeyman of his division" the man is so talented that he could've taken on prime Tony Ferguson and would've still won. Bruce Lee, considered the father of MMA emphasized that you are not a complete fighter unless you can do it all, punch, kick, move, grapple, wrestle and Machachevs that fighter he was describing. Good look to his future opponents, they got a whole lot to deal with. I think he should get a shot at double champ status and fight Leon Edwards, he would definitely win.

To be fair Khabib did train him in this camp in Abu Dhabi. Khabib just wasnt cage side b/c if he showed supported for Islam cage side than he would have to go to every other fighter in there group cage side. But he did train with him during this camp. The one in Australia he didnt, but still won 3-2 or even 4-1 there.
