We set out to climb Isolated Peak (North East Rock) at Mt Barney based on a trail I found on Wikiloc. I had done some additional research on the options and all options seemed pretty challenging. We made it to Isolated Peak and headed down the other side to the saddle and then determined that we would head left down the ridge, per my original plan and based on the Wikiloc route. Well it seems that the climb down the ridge required abseiling and despite trying with a rope we couldn't get down the last little bit, it was too risky (I tried). So we had to backtrack up to the top of the ridge and then determined we would go back over Isolated Peak to the car, the way we came. We lots at least 2-3 hours due to having to backtrack and it made for a 13 hr day. It was brutal. Some great scenery though and view points of the peaks of Barney that I hadn't seen before which was great. Another great adventure.
