Strictly speaking, this is an axonometric projection, not an isometric projection. With an isometric projection, every right angle on a horizontal or vertical plane will always appear as either a 60° angle or a 120° angle. A cube in an isometric projection will always have the silhouette of a regular hexagon, where every edge and angle is the same size.

i found a shaderpack that does isometric/orthograpic projection shaders on reddit but its not really popular so its really hard to find, with the shaders you can control the zoom of the cammera and the shader works on most version of optifine

I know why the sun was behaving so weirdly. I watched a video by "Shesez" in a series called "Boundary Break", where they fly the camera around and look at out-of-bounds things, and he did a Minecraft episode. In that episode, they had a special camera that didn't follow the rules of the normal camera, and they were able to see that the sun's actually a 2D texture (obviously), but it's actually fairly big and it always stays exactly 100 blocks away from the camera. That's why the sun starts to look kinda weird when it's at the edge of the screen. Also, the moon follows these same rules, and the stars actually form a big sphere around the camera. Anyway, watch the video if you want to know more. Anyway, the sun looked weird because the camera no longer followed the rules. Basically, the camera was way past the sun, so it was really obvious that it was 100 blocks away.

I’ll explain the sun to you (if you don’t know) The sun follows the person (your Minecraft skin) and the mod breaks that so the sun, moon, and stars are just a skybox following the character, but the skybox itself is actually blue/black and does not follow your character what-so-ever.
