Yara, is basically good and laying down the context for vague questions from the interviewer assuming everyone knows where she’s coming from, but she sounds very unrelatable with her use of vocabulary, I’m not sure she has a good read on the audience

I agree. But I also like how they are with their sisters as one. I sure hope they have those talks behind the camera, then come together to make a unified statement. It's pretty cool how they co-sign each others perspectives in public. I LOVE this shit!
@jillruff1655
@jillruff1655 5 жыл бұрын
Im quite long-winded, so buckle up! Lol... Although bi-racial privilege is very real, the topic being discussed was more so women vs men as it pertains to our difficulties achieving success the industry, & not women vs each other. The epidemic of colorism is already it's own beast entirely, & if presented in THIS particular setting it wld've proven to be more divisive than unifying, thus upseting the group's harmonic balance, & disrupting everyone's shakras! Lol. Colorism amongst black women requires its own platform devoted strictly to that, & that alone. You can't just open the lid then close it up real qwik like Lena did with the "only me & 3 other ppl out in the indusrty" comment. On this panel, she's the only LGBT+ person present. But with the dais literally being split 50/50, with three full AA women (Lena, Issa, & Jameele) vs 3 mixed race WOC, they wldnt be able to casually ease a topic as controversial as "mixed privilege" into the conversation without being forced to dissect it fully & possibly offending some one. They did right. They kept it cute. Besides, the subject at hand was heavy enough! Sheesh! How many dragons do u want them to slay in a 26 minute YT video?
@denisedean2446
@denisedean2446 4 жыл бұрын
thehoneyeffect how so? Halle Berry is biracial but I don't see how she was privileged by Hollywood producers. In fact they seemed to only want her to play the stereotypical "tragic mulatto"! Case and point that horrific role she played in Monster Ball and Swordfish in which she was sexualized by White men.

Unfortunately great production does not make up for poor storytelling. The stories that they have told so far Has been beautiful garbage. Make no mistake about it they are up there because A wealthy Caucasian put them there. Quality over quantity will always win. I will rather see a great story told on a iPhone, Then a demoralizing story poorly structured told with the most highest of production. The money will dry up, Because this business is all about turning a profit rather than black female empowerment. The art of storytelling is also a gift that very few people possess. Everyone an their mother is a writer and director, But the proof is in the profit. You don't have to be a filmmaker to understand the art form of cinema.

“hate on black men”? One of the great things about Issa’s work is her true representation of multi faceted black people (men & women) she continuously shows what some may say as “stereotypical” black characters while also showing the good & bad that just comes with the black experience. “hate” for black men is strong, loud & wrong. She shows black men being black men, whatever that means to you. And vice verse with black women.
@denisedean2446

la3g462 Wow look at all the negative comments being leveled at these Black women on this post! You got Becky asking "Why can't Black women support white women?"(we don't do windows!), another posts by a white guy asked why "non-white women weren't being honored", and brothas straight up started listing the Black women on this forum that they disliked! This is why these forums are needed, because Black women have had to put up with abusive dialogue from Black and White males as well as combating White women undermining our talents in corporate America. Black women are not going to sit down and take that ish. Our voices will not be muted!!!
