It’d be interesting to see Isshin and Ryuken fight alongside Aizen as they stall Yuha while waiting for Ichigo’s Bankai to get repaired. Aizen: “You two certainly get along well. What a close friendship you two have.” Isshin & Ryuken: “Shut up, we’re not friends!” Aizen: “Like fathers, like sons.”

At least Isshin gets a decent fight with Aizen, even if we never really see his Shikai or Bankai. We never really get to see much of what Ryuken do. But if the changes so far mean anything, there might be decent hope for these two in getting more.

Instead of Renji, i hope the final battle will have Isshin and Ryuken fighting alongside their sons. It would definitely make a more impactful fight cuz now it's personal. I feel like Renji was out of place in that battle, and not necessarily because of power levels, but because he doesn't really have that "personal issue" against Yhwach unlike the rest who were there.

One thing i wish we could have seen, had Uryu not been a double agent (and thus actually being convinced by Yhwach to become evil), is a little fight between him and Ryuken in which the latter revealed to his son what Yhwach had done- killed his mother, the mother of his best friend and countless other quincy in a sort of deradicalization moment- a moment where Uryu learns that this organization he's joined is pure evil. Would've hit a LOT harder than the reveal (if you could even call it that) that Uryu was always planning to betray Yhwach. Would also give Ryuken a bit of a redemption arc for just letting his son join this zealous, genocidal, cultish empire. Yeah, he gave him too much room to choose his own path when, for all he knew, his son couldve been totally on board with Yhwach's plans for all the worst possible reasons. His carelessness as a father could very well have led Uryu to become an instrument in the destruction of all worlds.

Since they showed both of them reacting to Senjumaru’s bankai I’ve been hoping that they will do something with them. Even just having Ishin show up in front of Ryuken to talk about what’s happening would be better than what’s in the manga

Would not mind seeing them in action with more to do per say. It will be cathartic given both where affected by Yhwach's actions in the worst ways imaginable. Still when it comes to the aftermath at least Uryu and Ryuken's relationship has mended somewhat with Ryuken footing the bill for Uryu's studies.

Isshin and Ryuken definitely need more screen time in this arc. Along with Ginjou and Ukitake, these two are at the top of my list for characters I wish got more love and attention.

Since their surprise appearance in episode 26, I have a good feeling that Kubo and the team are setting up extra scenes or more involvement with both characters. I was pretty excited, thinking we might get a scene of them getting ready to go, then arriving to go help their sons... I like the scenarios that you gave... although it would be more of a stretch, I truly love the idea of Isshin arriving to help out his former 3rd seat defeat Gerard

considering how well zero division was used I have a lot of confidence that these 2 will be utilised well as well

I always wanted isshin to go out using his final getsuga against ywach but please please Kubo give these 2 the battles they deserved in this war!!! Ryuken basically did nothing but bring the arrow. Why have Isshin show up if he wasn’t going to fight? With the anime expanding stuff, I heavily suspect Isshin will reunite with toshiro and use Bankai against Gerard until the latter’s death. I would love to see Ryuken help Uryu face Hashwalth.

I think we as a fandom still need to keep our expectations somewhat low. Yes, there is a lot of room for expansion now but there's also so much stuff people wish for that definetly won't all be expanded upon. Let's see: -Ichigo vs Uryu -Ukitake Bankai -More Yhwach flashbacks -More Soul King flashbacks -Shuhei Bankai -Ikkaku fight -Kira vs Lille -Uryu vs Haschwalth extensions -Uryu survived Auswählen explained -Ryuken additions -Isshin additions -Chad fight and powerup -More Visored moments -Urahara and Yoruichi flashback -Grimmjow Segunda Etapa -Schutzstaffel flashbacks -Ichigo's True Bankai showcase -Aizen's Bankai -Greatly expanded final fight -War Aftermath These are just a few from the top of my head I've seen floating around a lot. I think on that list Ryuken and especially Isshin are very low priority. If anyone gets an expansions I think it would be more likely to be Ryuken. Still, I love the ideas presented in this video

I'd be pretty excited to see Isshin's Bankai, my theory is still that it will be similar to Hitsugaya's with the ice wings, only Isshin's would obviously be made out of flames

They both need to be on the final fight against Ywhach, who took so much from their lives, Masaki and Katagiri. It makes no sense that they went all the way to the Soul Society just to give Uryuu an arrow and then do literally nothing else.

Isshin's Bankai agaisnt Gerard with the other captain would work so well. Byakuya with his Zanpakuto that turns into lots of small blades and Kenpachi with Zanpakuto being one Giant Blade, Toshiro with his Ice Zanpakuto and Ishhin with Fire Zanpakuto all taking on Gerard !!! This will also give a very interesting reunion between Toshiro and Isshin.

Your version of Ryuken's character sounds pretty good, doubt it will happen but something will change

For me Soken and Ryuken needed more back and forth in flashbacks because a major theme of the arc was "fatherhood" , so I felt we should've had a stronger throughline with that, hopefully the anime can give us more with that.

I really REALLY hope we see more of Ryuuken. If him and issin get a teamup i will be beyond satisfied. But at least get ryuuken doing something badass! Especially since we know he IS a badass and quite powerful quincy.

I want to see Isshin’s Bankai against Gerard, and Ryuken vs Haschwalth after saving Uryu from the latter’s blade.

Hmm, I just realised: there is a very real possibility that Isshin's bankai is similar to Rukia's, in that it turns his body into flame or at least partially into flame. This would explain why him being injured would prevent him specifically from activating bankai, even though there have been a good number of other shinigami who were still capable of bankai despite more severe injuries.

I’m worried about not getting Isshin’s bankai because they cut the line in Everything But the Rain that references his bankai. In the manga, Aizen very explicitly states he’s cheap shotting Isshin in the back because his bankai would be troublesome and due to the strain it takes on his body, that injury will prevent him from releasing it. In the anime, he just slashes Isshin presumably to weaken him against White, but there’s no reference to Isshin’s bankai or the strain it has on him. In the manga I felt like the lines talking about Isshin’s bankai were a sign that it’s something Kubo planned to reveal. Then when Isshin shows up right at the end, I felt like that’s where it would have happened if Kubo hadn’t had to cut so much content to make his deadlines. In all likelihood I’m sure that’ll be the case and we’ll get Isshin’s bankai, but I’m at a loss for why they would have cut the reference in Everything But the Rain if Kubo knew he was going to reveal it now that he can do the story properly. I’m worried he at some point decided not to reveal the bankai for some reason and as a result knew there would be no point teasing it in the flashback arc

I would also like Ryuken and Isshin to have encouraging conversations with Uryu and Ichigo before they face Yhwach 😁

I was thinking the same thing! Isshin appearing during the battle between Hitsugaya and Gerard Valkyrie ahead of Ryouken. Reuniting with his former Squad and probably helping his former lieutenant one last time.

Theres one Wildcard who could give us a Suprise Battle of the Two Dads vs the Unknown Female Quincy from the flashback. I really doubt that she died 1k years ago because then it would not make sense to place her there, or atleast there must be a reason why Kubo placed her there.

I believe Isshin and Ryuken were experimented on by Kisuke Urahara after Sosuke Aiken. Urahara may have felt their powers were stronger but needed to have the ability of hollow powers which may have made them stronger than the captain commander

It would have been nice to see Isshin have a reunion with Hitsugya and Rangiku.

More or less the same idea, the dad's going to rescue their respective sons. Isshin would play the same role he had in FKT against Aizen, shacking Ichigo in a moment of crisis and trying to fight the main villain (perhaps showing bankai this time), but ending defeated by Yhwach. See him against Gerard would be okay, but with less sense in the context, as he should go to his son for logic. About the Miracle, I have a different theory, involving the Fullbringers as key players for the defeat of Thor. As for Ryuken, the anime already added some new material about the Ishidas, and we all hope to see him there against Haschwalth, by himself or tagging with Uryu, defeating the blonde (and hopefully see his Vollstandig, or all of them). Personally, I pray for the Aushwalen in that part to be completely removed. It was a cheap move to rush the ending, but in the anime, there is no need for that, and we can have a more satisfying ending for those fights. Even if I agree it would fit Jugram as ending, betrayed that way, it was still a shameful ending, over than bad executed. If Yhwach improved his powers, able to absorb even Gerard that wasn't really a quincy, why didn't try with Uryu too? I know that he survived to one already, and that has still to be explained, but with Yhwach as SK, the caliber was different (cmon, only Robert, now in the anime the soldats, died from that light, and I'm sure no one believes that Gerard and Jugram are weaker than Bazz or Nanana, who survived to the first light, so that was stronger). More than Uryu, if Ryuken was there, why don't target him as well with that light? This is what I mean with bad plot device, let's use the Aushwalen to eliminate only the bad guys but ignore the quincies against us. So, better remove it at all, and have defeated somehow in battle.

I feel like hell arc is gonna be awesome. I want to see a full powered Yamamoto with both arms fight against a Zaraki Kenpachi with his bankai.

I can see their roles being expanded, but I do think Ryuken is the most likely to get the focus. Isshin did already get his revenge on Grand Fisher and his bond with Ichigo is strong as it is. Having Ryuken and Uryu teaming up and getting more of a closure regarding Katagiri's death, would be a nice way to resolve their arcs. Plus, Isshin could have more of a role in the Hell arc, so I think giving the spotlight to the Ishida family would work better for the TYBW arc.

I think another thing to keep in mind is that Aizen pretty clearly held Isshin in high esteem as a combatant. White was a captain level threat, but he took away the potential risk of Isshins bankai rather than allow there to be a chance of it being used. So its likely a fairly impressive power in its own right. Chances are what his bankai does is it actively uses blood as fuel, either the blood in his body, the blood it spills, or both. Time runs out when Isshin is out of blood and as good as dead. So when hes injured and actively losing blood, the strain and time he to use bankai are massively lessened.

I Hope They Pop Up In The Anime Adaptation & Actually Battle. Especially Since We Saw (Specifically) Their Reactions To Senjumaru’s Bankai. Maybe That’s Why They Decided To Get Involved In The War. If So I Hope They Help Uryuu Fight Jugram Or Join The Gotei 13 & Vizards vs Gerard (Before Heading To Uryuu To Give Him The Arrow)

I always just assumed that Isshin was there because he was the only way for Ryuken to get there. That doesn't make it any better but at least it's a reason for his appearance at all.

The anime is doing a good job at fleshing out what the manga left out. Ryuken will probably get a deeper flashback on that Still Silver Arrow and finally give resolution to his son Uryu, just like how Ishinn gave Ichigo his resolution in Everything But The Rain/The Blade Is Me. While I'd like to see fight scenes for the dad's, I don't think it is necessary for the plot.

I'd have Isshin appear with Orihime and co after Yhwach goes to soul society and gives ichigo a pep talk. Yhwach fights Aizen in the soul society and Aizen uses bankai to temporarily seal the almighty but is wounded as Yhwach breaks through his bankai. Isshin and Ichigo and co arrives and Yhwach, without his almighty is forced to use Zanka no Tachi. Here we'll have a short flashback of Yamamoto being Isshin's mentor in his early days of soul society and helps Isshin to become strong enough to become a captain. This makes sense since they're both users of fire zanpakutous and Isshin is a member of a noble family the Shiba clan. Here, isshin will use his bankai to fight zanka no tachi and I'll add a side effect to zanka no tachi where it actually makes fire type zanpakutous around it stronger since it raises the surrounding temperature to extraordinary heights so that isshin's bankai can even stand a chance against Zanka no tachi. During this fight, isshin will ultimately gain an opening and use a special seal from Urahara to seal zanka no tachi for good. Then from there on we can have Ichigo vs Yhwach and Ichigo can use the full powers of his bankai since the almighty will still be unavailable for a little while more. For Ryuken, id have him use the quincy final form alongside Uryuu's vollstandig vs Haschwach's vollstandig.

The Gerard fight is really the only one they could possibly fit into.

With Robert Accutrone possibly still alive, it would be cool to see him fight someone who doesn't get one. Previously, I thought Robert vs Jushiro would be a great addition. But having Robert fight Isshin and/or Ryuken could also be an awesome addition.

I hope one day, we get a "What is Hanatarō Yamada's bankai".

Haschwalth is now forshadowed to die to flames by Senshumarus bankai in the anime. This opens up Bazz-B (not killed by Haschwalth but at the brink of death) but also for Isshin to battle him

It’ll be make more sense if Isshin dies at the hands of Ywach , it’ll increase ichigo’s involvement in the hell arc.. otherwise Isshin helping Histugaya will come a full circle!

one interesting observation: shutaras bankai seems to have been foreshadowing the fates of the members of the shutzstaffel, and hashwalth being consumed by fire mlead many to believe this was in reference to Baz-B, but what if it is actually referencing a potential fight between isshin and hashwalth? we know engetsu is a fire based ability after all.

I like the ideas and i think they fit pretty well, but if it's going to happen, i hope Uryu will defeat Senjumaru. He kind of need that win to show off his power and status.

The Gerard idea for isshin is the best. When the heroes have launched a killing blow to Gerard thanks to isshin, Gerard’s face shows he can’t dodge, but then the asspulling light intervenes and kills Gerard before the attacks can land. That way, the heroes show they could have won, and yuha gains the power so that no one can say he lost only because he didn’t absorb all the sterntitter powers.

Considering that Ryuken especially wanted to avenge his late wife, I would've loved to see him actually engage Yhwach in combat and vent his anger on the Quincy king.

Ryuken gave up his chance for revenge, because he was finally accepting his sons ability to do what needed to be done. He gave up his chance for revenge which is powerful. The metaphor is solid.

We need to see the last quincy in action. He is the man who inherited everything from Soken Ishida.

I feel like there are simply not enough enemies for the good guys to combat in cour 3 and 4. The schutzstaffel, haschwalth and yhwach are 6 in total. We know that Lille and Pernida will get their solo battles. Askin already got his hands full and so does Gerard. Now maybe Haschwalth can fight someone but idk. I want to see the fruits of Ginjo's training too ngl.

I think the reason we haven't seen Isshin's Bankai is for one of two reasons, He ether does not as of yet have the spiritual strength to preform it or Like Yamamoto's Bankai it may have been deemed as too dangerous to use.

You know what i thought? what you said ablut isshin using his bankai fighting yuha at the end of the series even though it'll be futile..how bout he uses his bankai for a lesser enemy, and uses his final getsuga tensho instead for yuha? It makes SO much more sense. We all know isshin knows how to use it. That would give isshin a huge standout moment. Maybe a flashbacl of him in the royal palace of him learning that technique. (With a technique THAT strong, it wouldnt be that hard to believe he learned it there lol) A man could dream my GOD, would i love to see that!

Again if by some chance that cour 3 will at the Gerald fight. That means there is plenty of enough room cour 4 where we can potentially see Isshin’s bankai and maybe Ichigo’s true bankai. The rest of cour 4 can be cfyow as the aftermath. We’ll have to see

I honestly think that he wanted both of them to die in the final moments...the passing of the still silver would make since then It would it woukd be great to see isshin final getsuga tenshou....which i think for him, it would be becoming a bomb

13:25 imo i don't think the isshin should fight yhwach. I think he'll use the excuse like he did with grand Fisher and saying that ichigo needs to fight this fight. I think isshin should help with the plotting with kisuke and arrive with ginjo and tsukishima. U get the revival of ichigos resolve and it doesn't break the Canon too much. I don't necessarily wanna see ryuken and isshin fight I don't think its needed but would be more impactful for them to give more moral support. Ryuken can appear as he does but isshin can leave and Uryuu and Ryuken can have a more indepth heart to heart

I don't think the Dads are disappointing. You can already have an idea how powerful they can be just by the snips and few panels that pokes onto their capabilities. I think there are characters that you don't need too much of and Isshin and Ryuken are examples of those.

One of the most annoying things is that isshin is without a doubt one of the strongest captians,everyone else got destroyed by aizen while isshin alone was able to hold him off without even releasing his sword And then the trio,gave him an actual okay fight But while we get to see how strong kisuke and yoruiichi are,we never see anything from isshin but his shikai And there's also the note that isshin is out of his prime because of not being active for 20 years as he himself says

This is how i would change some things in TYBW. So as soon as it is revealed that uryu joined the quincy Yhwach would give him his first mission" Hunt down and bring back the traitor of the Quincy race Ryuken Ishida and bring him back dead or alive" Which uryuu accepts and then visits Ryuken where they have a fight which looks like uryuu is losing then the scene changes to ichigo in hyuko mundo then when we return to vandenriech where uryu drages a half dead body of Ryuken leaving a trail of blood from dragging with horrifying looks on all the Sternritters looking athe the condition of one of the strongest quincy lying on the floor half dead as they had all heard about ryuken then above that to be brought into that position by his own son. This solidifies uryuu as a villan for both anime exclusive people and manga readers. This can then be explained that it was their plan to bring ryuken into vandenriech because although they had medallion they needed the exact coordinates of vandenriech which uryuu can't do because all the eyes are on him and he will be by the side of yhwach so he cant work as the transmitter

Mark my words, we will see a lot of unseen bankais, and Aizen Bankai after his famous words "Welcome to my Soul Society" unchaines to the Chair.

Ryuken is such a black box I am not specifically needing much from him. Isshin on the other hand has had so much depth eluded to that I feel like we deserve his Bankai as a fanbase.

Ccould it be possible the 4th cour we might see reio's full story before 5 clans destroy him, maybe origin of Yhwach himself there too? The royal guards battles include Jugram could takes the entire of the 3rd cour, and there will be a lot of space to put many new stuff/lore too. I can see Kubo may planning to do the Hell Arc as anime to surprise us both manga readers and anime-watchers at the same time, making sure he doesn't have to work so tirely much like when he was drawing weekly chapter, and us will be more than happy to see. It's a win-win situation.

Just finished reading the manga a few days ago and I gotta say the way these 2 were dealt with was one of the most disappointing things for me I really wanted to see Isshin fight!

I really wanted Ryuken to go Letz Stil. Would have been a great way to show that the old way is still effective.
