Hey Everybody! Today Paulo Runs Through "Rahdo's Goofs"
If you find Goofs I didn't notice Please leave Timestamps :)
- 9:03 This is right but Richard will forget this later and use the Familiar with those special people...
Please be on the lookout and comment with the timestamps when that happens so I don't have to watch the videos all over again just to put notes in those spots!
Thanks
- 13:39 Just a heads up, Richard will forget to use this ability pretty much every time he goes to a warehouse during the game, so I'll not be adding notes to that
- 25:32 Richard should have moved his merchant stack onto the other assistant

Love your videos and pace. Especially how you have the play-through and then have a separate video for final thoughts. Reading rules is one thing and doing my own solo play-through can take up more time so I really appreciate your efforts.

Love that dice rolling tray you got there! I bet it helps with a board like this where you could cause destruction with dice rolls lol. And loved the look and feel of this game - another one to add to the wish list :) ps- thank you for singing at the start - when I heard the name of the game that was also in my head!

Thanks for clearing up movement, the rulebook is not very clear about picking up assistants and interacting with the board.

Just curious on a move you made at 25:40 , you used a card that made it so you didnt have to move but could still use the action of that tile. Couldnt you have picked up your assistant that was already there AND did the action? Or did you have to use an additional assistant in that space in order to do the action?

Richard, just noticed a major playing error and wanted to make sure your listeners were aware. I also picked this up after my first solo playthrough to learn it and thought it was a bit powerful playing as you have. That is playing cards - once played are discarded not retained to use next turn. Page 8 of the rules: "After you resolve the Bonus card, place it on the face-up discard pile on the Caravansary" - whoops on my part as well. :)

Istanbul ... Εις την πόλιν Istinpolin = To the City during Byzantine time Constantinopolis was the major city so people calling it just the City. So the name Istanbul still has something from the previous history.

Hello. I want to ask. On the prison and inn cards. It's like a card. Which has a yellow star on it. And in the instructions it says to play. Action or card? What action is it exactly?

Is this game kind of like Favor of the Pharaoh? In both games it looks like you roll dice, and choose some path towards gaining resource that allow you to reach a goal; in this game, get 6 gems, in Pharoah, getting 7+ dice to win the "Favor"... either case, you are rolling, possibly re-rolling, gaining resources or powers that allow you to gain more dice, repeat... to reach some goal. This game look a little deeper than Pharaoh though.
@rahdo
@rahdo 5 жыл бұрын
hmm, if i were to pick between the two, i'd probably go with pharoah, due to it's wider setup variably.

I do not understand why there is 16 tiles but you only throw 2D6. Shouldn't you be throwing 2D8 at the minimum? Also, how the merchand supposed to go to the Tile 1 or 13-14-15 and 16?
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 жыл бұрын
the tiles are designed so that the most common rolls with 2d6 are the fountain and other spaces that are less commonly gone for, and i think that's part of the design, that the governor & smuggler will tend towards those places more often to make them more attractive. so if you were rolling 2d8, that would shift the probability of where they land, and it also means they'd land on 13-16, and that would make them too powerful, to land on the most powerful spots, I guess...

15:00 - when Jen moved to the fruit warehouse, wouldn't it have been smarter to move back to the starting space, blocking you from going to get your pawn, and letting her get closer to the jail, getting your assistant white and releasing her niece?
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 жыл бұрын
well, if you mean the fountain space, that's the one tile that no one has to pay to go to, no matter how many other players might be there :)

From a Turk's point of view: They could have used actual names from Istanbul, instead of Sultan's Palace or Large Market. Feels rather generic for a game that takes place in one of the most iconic cities of all time (... which has admittedly turned into a bloated shithole).

Why the hell american players can't stop using the word "bucks" for every kind of money? It's turkish lira, and helps you to get into the game.
@rahdo
@rahdo 6 жыл бұрын
in American English, 'buck' is a universal term for money, so it's equally applicable to any form of currency.

IMO this game was just incredibly boring. Do this, so you can collect this, then use that to collect that. It is the equivalent of an Oscar-bait movie, but in this case "Make a euro game to win the Spiel de Jahres". Pick an "exotic" location, go back into the past slightly, make it safe and friendly for all, collect the things to get the points.

+Zoef Boef To see the game in action. Even with some minor mistakes, it gives a good sense of how the game goes. How much you can mess with other players, how much each mechanic comes into play, etc.
