The ISU-152K self-propelled installation (the name of the prototype-object 241k) was a modernized version of the ISU-152 heavy self-propelled gun, created during the Great Patriotic War on the basis of the IS tank. Modernization was carried out at LKZ in 1955-1958. As a result of the second stage of modernization on ISU-152K, compared with ISU-152M, the margin was 1.65 times increased by increasing the capacity of internal fuel tanks. Many of the used units and nodes were unified with T-10, T-54 and PT-76 machines.
