Need to have a system where you can regenerate on demand when your in a favorable area instead of coming on in the middle of town when you have many stops
@MichaelOlden

Great comments and I have the following suggestion regarding a daily routine that has helped many. As you know to meet DOT requirements, the operator of the truck performs a daily inspection. If the operator starts the truck, places the truck in park, pulls up the service brake, and holds the button to the right of the steering column for 5 seconds, the truck will self check to affirm whether a regen is needed. If not, the on with the inspection - then on the road. If the system needs to regen - it will begin the process - and - the driver can complete the DOT walk around. The regen process take 6-20 minutes depending on the system needs. If this is a morning routine - then the time required should be low. Hope this supports your input. And remember - you don't have to to a regen every time. You can mis up to 15% of the requests without issue.

Just pressing the regen button doesn't work. You must hold it in for 3 seconds then the dash will read that it is checking PM fluid level and after that IF a regen is needed (and only if it is needed) the dash will prompt to to select regen which means push the button again and then it will start the regen process. Do NOT touch anything until it is done or it will go into derate mode (basically unusable and must be towed).

We have had nothing but continuous issues with our Isuzu 1000,with the PM level on 1 bar the truck will go into limp mode.Its been into workshops for this same issue on 5 occasions and still happens.I personally wouldn't buy an Isuzu with this DPF system.Steer clear people.

Any update on the resolution of you FTR 1000? The FTR 1000 is designed for operation in Australia. And, based on the year model - the engine I source referenced "This is a truck which will run at the maximum of 16.5 tonnes and it has 296hp (221kW) available at 2400rpm and 981Nm (724 ft lb) of torque available at 1450rpm. Even if the truck is pulling a fully loaded trailer and loaded up to its maximum GCM of 32 tonnes,..." The engine reference in this video is a much different engine. a 4 cyl verse 8 cyl. and a much different electronic package and sensor arrays. There have also been many iterations of changes and amendments to meet and match government requirements. Thank you again for your thoughts, I hope your dealer relationships have resolved your issue through updates to the electronics. In the US market, we overcame overactive regenerations through expanding the air restriction tolerance (sensor pressure fore and aft of the DPF) which activated the regeneration process. On why the system would leap into limp mode with only one bar - I have not had that experience in the US market. Not saying that it hasn't. Just saying I have not had a client that lept from one bar into the limp mode.

YEP!!!! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE regen procedure! ECU programmer was smoking crack when he wrote the code for these stupid ass trucks! There needs to be a better way to manually initiate regen instead of that stupid little fart switch!!

On this one, u need to clear the check engine light and then press the regen button within 30 seconds or so of starting it after that, and then it will regen without issue. Never, ever gives a red warning. Never even once have I seen it "SEL. REGEN REQD", or even "REGEN REQ'D". It's ALWAYS simply showing the PM LEVEL, and goes straight from there to limp mode. Maybe 50% of the time, it'll operate as designed and regen automatically

@@ifixboats5066 I appreciate your point of view and agree the the government requirements are stringent. As it is a required system, we do the best we can to educate our clients on how the system works. The down time is most immediate when a sensor fails or a component is hit. The Isuzu provides captured information on the number of requests for regeneration and the number of processed regenerations. To reduce the requests for regenerations takes daily manual regeneration in the morning as the client performs the walk around. And keeping an eye on the hours run. The system is intended to be deep burned every 100,000 miles or 6,000 hours (wait for it - under normal use). And, DEF only lasts a year. So if the truck is a low mileage use, clients should be educate to keep only half of the tank filled to reduce white chalking build up inside the DEF tank. I short, if the government requires it - we have to install and work with clients to manage it. Every truck at dome point is going to need oil changes in the engine, transmission, and axle. This is a known cost of business operations. When the government shares it can be removed - we are glad to do so. But when was the last time the government chose to reduce its size?

Can this truck still run in 2023
@MichaelOlden
@MichaelOlden Жыл бұрын
Yes it can - as the year emission goes with the production date of the truck. As States evolve their emissions laws - California and New York - others to follow ??? they have power over the vehicles REGISTERED within their state, But trucks traveling through those states - at this time - can operate based on the emission at time of production.

Your Truck Is Equipped with the SCR system - the precursor to the DEF fluid enhanced systems. There is still a need to service the SCR DPF. Please consult your nearest Isuzu Dealer for resolution to your issue. OR - forward a picture of the light on the dash to 423-618-3323. I might have more I can offer.

I'm looking into a NPR gas or diesel I'm gonna use it for my bread route I'm undecided what do you recommend I'm driving only 40-45 miles a day 5 days a week stop and go what would be the better option
@MichaelOlden
@MichaelOlden 2 жыл бұрын
The Rule of thumb has changed over the years - currently we look to idle time as much as miles driven daily. With 11,200 miles per year - you are a great candidate for the gas engine. The diesel DFP system could be a 9 year system before service, to achieve that life - you would need to request a regen each morning and reduce the idle time. With the gas engine having an expected life of 200,000 miles (Though a substantial number exceed this marker) the gas engine will provide up to 18 years of run time for your company. If it is a financial decision for tax purposes - though I am not an account and have never played one on TV - your might consider a week away lease with purchase option. This would provide the option to have a fresh truck on the road every 4 years - and possibly make bank on the disposal as well. New and used trucks are scarce and price to an unprecedented market level. New - if you can find it - and gas engine. Where will you register the truck? Send me your company and contact information at molden@lee-smith.com And thank you for the question!

DPF systems another way to screw the customer. As my truck sits on the side of the road as we speak
@MichaelOlden
@MichaelOlden 3 жыл бұрын
The system is a required to meet the current Federal guidelines, and like tires and brakes, it is a wearable part. And, is important to the health and operability of a diesel powered truck. There are several layers of systems that communicate together. Isuzu has the best uptime record and on the road presence of any cab over truck currently sold in the US. I welcome additional feedback on the resolution of your dilemma, as it could help others.

@MichaelOlden
@MichaelOlden 3 жыл бұрын
@@javiera3229 TY for you comment, and I hope one day the system can legally be removed. Unfortunately, it is still a required system to meet federal emissions. At one time the exposure for tampering or removing the system could result in an up to $25,000 fine, trigger a DOT audit, and an order to shut the truck down until restored. This is of course in a commercial application - a truck used for business. But maybe things have changed. Lastly, as a trade value, dealerships are very wary of accepting vehicle in trade without the emissions as they become responsible to repairing or replacing, so be sure to keep removed components for reinstallation should either law enforcement come calling - or if you intend to trade the truck in.

The transmissions suck
@MichaelOlden
@MichaelOlden 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to introduce a concern. What I am not understanding yet, is what you experienced. Often a truck that is geared for long term, low operating cost, and the highest level of safety for the road, can be set to the best performance for the business' health and profitability. Was it the quality of the shifting? Many times we find that a health report can help by looking at the fuel pedal use to help in drier training. If the pedal is used like a bass drum permanent one note - then chances are the truck is being abused - or the operator is well overloaded and pushing past the limits the truck was intended. The result is early wear out and an expensive repair. Were you using the MID system to provide th service interval for maintenance of the transmission fluid? It coes preset - and can be adjust for your specific operation. If you are always on full load, then the service interval should reflect a high pressure service application. Inspecting the fluids done more often to assure the fluid are burnt. A good mechanic knows the smell. Again, your input is welcome but a little more information on what and why will be helpful.

I understand. Federally mandated. Compliance required. Does it work as intended? Yes. Would we be allowed to market the truck without a path to meet emissions? No. Does it waste fuel? sigh ... double sigh.... maybe it invests fuel to allow the truck to save money??? The current alternative - spend $3500 every time the system is fully clogged (tow bills not included) But I understand
