I've found that the 128 thumb drive doesn't hold much footage, so I thought about using an extra WD 2TB HDD myself. you appear to be pretty knowledgeable, so do you think the "FORMAT" option will work without having to go through partitioning, etc.?

I'm not sure what happened, but the HD crashed. I'm assuming the constant power on, power off, read, write, rewrite broke it. Next project I'm going to use a raspberry Pi to see if I can make an old idea work.
