I took chemistry classes in college, I can pronounce a lot of chemical names. I even know what some of them are, or at least what they do. So now I'm like the skin and hair product whisperer. I pick up a bottle of shampoo and read the ingredients to see how much I'm getting ripped off and how good or bad it is for my hair and scalp. I can do the same for food as well, though some of the preservatives I can identify as preservatives, but I don't really know what they are. But I CAN pronounce them. Free bonus tip: Sodium Lauryl and Sodium Laureth Sulfates are absolutely amazing foaming surfactants, but they are more aggressive and tend to be irritating with prolonged use. There are other surfactants that are considerably gentler. Also, if you have naturally oily skin, don't use anything that contains mineral oil, and try to limit the amount of any kind of oil in your skincare products. It'll just cause more problems. Also, many of the ingredients in skincare products that get a lot of attention on the marketing, like silk protein, royal jelly, hydrolyzed oat peptide, etc. aren't considered active ingredients as they fail to penetrate into the skin. Instead, many such ingredients perform a secondary role to keep the other ingredients on your skin or to prevent them from evaporating too quickly. As an example of how small things need to be to actually penetrate into your skin: hyaluronic acid comes in a few different chain lengths by molecular weight, and if the chain lengths are too long then it can no longer penetrate into the skin. These are individual molecules. On a side note, a mixed molecular weight blend of hyaluronic acid is tremendously useful for skincare because it can serve triple purpose as a humectant, a thickener, and an emulsifier. Ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is considered the most desirable from the perspective of a skincare chemist, as it penetrates most deeply into the skin and can help to pull and retain moisture within the skin. It is, however, the most expensive and has very poor thickening and emulsifying properties. You'd be surprised how much you can learn when you start hyperfixating on skincare because you find out that it's possible to buy basically all of the raw ingredients off of AliExpress. Just be aware that making your own skincare products can get very expensive in a hurry because you lack economies of scale that big corporations have behind them.

Also, I definitely need a relatable comedy about a hero and a villain who are friends from before they became their respective roles and they just have these kinds of dialogues about things.
