The unprecedented time when Robert Smith Cries playing his new song It Can Never Be The Same live
El Paso Don Askins Center - 17 May 2016
The Cure North American Tour 2016
Lyrics
Don't worry, I smile
I'll miss you, but it's not like you're gone
Don't worry, I smile
It's not like there won't be another one
We laughed about last year
The games we played, the songs we sang
The way we danced all night
Don't worry, I smile
We'll do all those things again next time
And I kiss you
So soft, so cold, so pale
The words are left unsaid
But we always know
I can sing, I can dance, I can laugh
As if nothing ever changed
But without you, without you
It can never be the same
It can never be the same
Never be the same
Never be the same
No don't worry, I smile
I'll miss you, but it's not like you're gone
Oh don't worry, I smile
It's not like there won't be another one
There won't be another one
There will always be regrets
There won't be another one
This is all you get?
There won't be another one
Memory is all that survives?
There won't be another one
Without you, it can never be the same
It can never be the same
It can never be the same
Yeah, I can sing, I can laugh, and I can dance
As if nothing ever changed
Without you, without you
It could never be the same

Oh, no!! Robert has an enormous pain in his heart, the way he sings and his movements, show us his wounded soul, his deep sensibility. Those so sincered tears in front of a crowd place, and such a beautiful but sad song.... He breaks my heart. I wish Robert returns to feel happy regardless. He deserves it.

Brave man and a positive way to try to deal with loss, I did a similar thing when I lost my father on a past album (a band I'm in) and although it was hard as hell particularly playing it live shortly after in the long run it was a cathartic experience. I hope this helps him, is a beautiful song.

How much do I love The Cure? It can't be quantified. Unless you factor in the decades I've listened to them incessantly and loved them whole-heartedly and have actually melted, cried, smiled, danced, and even lost a little bit of bladder control the 10 times I've seen them live in concert. And then they come out and perform a song like this in 2016, unreleased, but we hear you! We had leaks of this song on Cure FB fan group site....and we were EXCITED because we had tickets here in America and couldn't wait. No matter where we were in the world, in 2016 we were there with you Robert, we anticipated the moment, and then we finally got to hear it live. We cried with you, and now a shitty audio recording on KZfaq is all we have. WTF! Please release it on an album! I know you have had trouble and beefs with labels before. And I was totally on your side, angered with what was happening to artists being consumed by yet another cretin monopoly, but you're actually making some of your fans suffer by not doing something. Please do something and release this heartfelt song! Love you, and thank you you, XOXOXO Crystal C.

i think one or more of these guys should start their own record company, then they can release what they want, when they want and get the lion's share of the profits (as it should be for the artists). release the double 'dark album', everyone gets $1 per unit sold (Robert should get at least $2) Porl/Pearl can get paid and written recognition and credit, no one gets screwed over, music doesnt need to be lost forever collecting dust while literally several million fans are eagerly awaiting to hear it. and The Cure can live on in normalcy with a somewhat regular schedule. i would love to see the cure every week, but would be happy with buying a blu-ray of a small tour to document each cd/'era' of each new album. much less daunting than a world tour every few years. THE WORLD IS IN SERIOUS NEED FOR QUALITY MUSIC, AND THE CURE ARE PRACTICALLY THE ONLY ONES LEFT!! some of my favorite songs are (besides 'this morning') are please come home, a boy i never knew, spilt milk and ching chang chong (and of course 'it can never be the same'.) some of the best songs on the planet and they either dont exist to buy or are the worst possible quality if you can even find them. how hard is it to release all previous material and move forward? between having Roger back and now Reeves, the cure are in a really good place again, Robert's voice sounds great and has been really creative with the live stuff and collaboration stuff.... for a band this old and the quality to be so high, they are in uncharted musical history territory. if they released an odd balls cd, the double dark album, and a whole new cd and charged $20 for each of them..... i would drop $60 in a heartbeat.
