I work at an engineering firm. We specialize in robotic manufacturing design. We are finalizing our new 96 core threadripper on the asus w90 board with 1tb of memory and 4 w7900 cards. We are now using AI driven CAD software for design. We run linux operating system, and it's amazing. 2 1500 watt power supplies and 2 360 radiators for cooling. It's twice as fast as our previous workstations. Complete game-changer. Still working out all the software integration but I couldn't be happier. About 60 k in this setup, so not a cheap endeavor. We plan on building 10 of these. Thank God we have 4 software engineers. I'm truly impressed. We have come a long way in the 30 years I have been doing this.

What about AIDA64 memory bandwith test, that would be very interesting to see in practice how much memory bandwidth each Pro CPU can achieve and how overclocking can unlock its full potential.

i have an 7960X here since 5 weeks but no Mainboard buyable so far :\ if i become the Gigabyte TRX50 Aero D, i like it most because its fully passiv cooling, without these loud crapy ant FANs this will be my new 24/48 gaming machine.

Thanks for the manual OC results! I would upgrade to TRX50, but the platform price is too much. :( Expensive motherboards and RAM. I'm still using Threadripper 3970x on the TRX40 platform. If there are discounts, I might build a couple of systems with TRX50 and Threadripper 7970x.

4:25 32 core parts run hotter due to having the same TDP as 64 and 96 core parts but lack surface area due to having 4 chiplets vs 8 or 12 on 64 core and 96 core parts respectively. 7980x is the coolest SKU.

I'm a dude who could actually use one of these. My application is processing microCT scans into 3D reconstructions. In laypeople's terms, that means turning whatever I've scanned into the most detailed 3D model imaginable. The resolutions can be two orders of magnitude beyond a typical medical CT scanner. We're talking single models reaching sizes in excess of 100 gigabytes. If you want to process those efficiently, you need massive amounts of compute and RAM. Despite being 3D reconstructions, GPU/Vram isnt quite as important as you think. By the time GPUs get involved, the data has been processed from ~1 fucktonbyte to something more reasonable.

Howcome the result for the 64 get lower when the clock speeds of fastest core go upto 5.6 Ghz on the 7980X with PBO2?

PS. I build computers since the 80's and I would suggest that one should always ware latex or similar gloves to build it, thus avoiding any chance of moisture and electric static discharge on the precious hardware. Just a thought.
