Sammie, thank you so much for your candidness. You’ll never know how much this inspired me and made me feel better. I’ve have just been “stress paralyzed “ lately about my craft room. It’s so full that I can’t even get in there to do what I love. Instead, it’s become a source of stress and depression. The total opposite of why I started crafting in the first place. It makes me feel alive, and valuable, and like I have some talent. This is what I need to do to get back to what makes me happy. Sending a big hug your way!

What she said!! So much stuff it’s crippling! My new obsession has been temu🤪 I go down to my craft room and can’t do anything because I’m so I’ve with the mess of supplies. I have a cat that lays on my keyboard when I'm on the computer. He also lays right across all my paperwork when I'm working. When he wants my attention, he certainly lets me know. But I just love him to pieces..

I had to let go of my sewing patterns and I believe it was nine bins of fabric. I was going to have a yard sale but decided not too. What I did was give everything to my son-in-laws mom who was an avid seamstress. She makes clothes and quilts all very beautiful. So then decided that I would only paint on wood and ceramics. Well I still have all the paint but did get into crocheting. So now I have an over abundance of wood, paint and yarn. I keep telling myself no more but I always find something cut and have to purchase it. So now I’m in the same predicament. Purchasing craft supplies is habit forming. To me it’s an addiction. I’m working on not trying to always buy crafts but it’s so easy with the internet. Good luck in clearing everything out.

Mary I understand. After dollar tree shopping I became addicted to thrifting. I know I have enough of it but for me it’s the thrill of the hunt, it’s the one thing I can go do on my own that brings me happiness so I kept doing it. Now my garage is filled to the max. It’s so bad!

I have ADHD and this resonates deeply. The joke is that the ADHDers hobby is obsessively learning about and getting all the stuff for new hobbies and crafts. And buying craft supplies is an entirely separate hobby from using them. I am expert on acquiring and dabble in using.

I have two cats that give me about three inches to work on for myself, and then the youngest wants to agrivate the older one. Gotta love them, that is why we have them, plus they love us when monody else will. The insanity is what keeps us humble. Love you, keep up the good work.

You could box up littles,glass,florals and sell boxes with a description of,winter,spring etc. and list some and even take in your booth. Everyone loves a surprise and you will go through your horde faster. 🤷‍♀️

Oh my goodness...I’m glad I’m not the only one completely overwhelmed by my DT hoard! The rolling lockdowns in 2020 made it so much worse - panic buying!! I’m on this mission too...good luck and awesome inspiration...❤

In this video, you have spoken everything that I feel. I feel like my craft room is ALWAYS a work in progress. I have started getting more organized and realized that there are things that I will never use as well. I am going to donate mine to our local senior center and let them get what they want. Whatever they dont want or need, I will pick back up and take to the thrift store that supports the local orphanage. I'm so glad to know I am not the only person in this boat. I moved in with my 83 yo parents to take care of them. I had to donate ALL my craft stuff. I have been here for 2 years and have no craft room so my bedroom looks like that room. lol. I have no time to craft anymore but crafters can’t stop buying the things!

This was a great start! One of the tips I've always read on decluttering is set a timer (like 15-20 minutes) and pick a shelf, section, drawer, whatever and work til your timer goes off. Take a break then repeat. Don't know if it works but it sounds good😊

Sammie; I am so excited for you, having your family able to come visit you more often is such a blessing.. My Husband and I downsized three years ago and it was crazy. We went from a 3200 sq ft two story story to a single story 2200 sq ft. We had lived there for 20 years, needless to say every nook & cranny had treasures and thrift store goodies. I once had a small booth I shared with a friend and I was addicted to thrifting. that was about ten years ago and all those goodies and treasures ended up in my craft room. Hang in their sweet friend I know how hard it is to downsize.. I will be thinking of you and saying prayers that it will be quick and painless for you.❤❤❤❤

Dollar Tree sucked me in and my stash looks exactly like yours! 😂 I’m retiring from my 7-5 job this summer, and my first task is to clean out my craft storage so that I’m not overwhelmed and will be able to actually feel inspired! I actually decided to do the same thing at my house!!! Not calling it a New Year's resolution, just trying to simplify our lives. It takes me longer to do things being physically disabled, but I do what I can. Lots of luck on your journey!!! ❤

Always good to know I’m not the only one that has a basement full of my best intentions and ideas! If only I could create as fast as I can know how to flip an item. I’d love to have the time to craft my stash… that’s why I got it! Sometimes my crafting ideas don’t get to take priority over real life that I still have to manage. So… Good for you! ❤

Lucky you...I have an entire 2 bedroom Park Model trailer stuffed to the brink with crafting materials. I have promised myself I would attempt to organize this year. I am donating stuff and sharing alot of supplies with friends but the struggle is real

You got this! When I had a smaller space I used a lot of storage boxes and labeled them and stacked them on top of each other. Maybe that can help a possible solution to some of it

I found myself going to DT every day. I soon stopped because I know how obsessed I get. I had to organize some and I really don't resale so I craft for family and friends. I live in an apartment so I'm fortunate to have a lot of storage. But I feel ya I really need to purge too!

I am with you. Most of my stuff to craft are in tubs so it doesn't look that bad, but I have been purging and organizing. The same thing, go to the Dollar Tree and buy all kinds of things with no plans in mind, mostly because I've seen other crafters that have things and make stuff and I say oh that is so cute or pretty, then I don't even make it. I've spent a lot of money but have just donated most of my stuff. Feeling a little better getting rid of stuff but now I really want to craft my stash and give what I make to friends or family as gifts because I can't keep everything, LOL

I'm a seasonal DT crafter. I found Christmas craft stuff I had after Christmas last year! I'm not buying anymore this year. You will get through this! I've been there. I'm an organizer but I can let the overwhelmeness take over. I hate it lol

I did the same thing and bought it ALL from the DT. I just gave it all away! I kept florals and tumbling tower blocks! I bought multiples. Now I don’t buy much at all period!

That’s exactly why I don’t donate to local thrift stores. I donate to nursing homes, our school, and a local organization. So check around you because a lot of shelters will take things too!

You are literally talking about my basement and my 4th bedroom there. The same way you have yours full of dollar tree stuff and thrifted items, the same I do. I stopped buying 2 years ago!!! And started going trough my stash. After 2 years I only now see a dent in it where I can walk in. This dollar store obsession was real for a lot of us especially during COVID. At lest you are lucky to have a booth to try to sell some of them and recuperate the money and with the rest you can make craft videos. I don't have either but I am still determined to craft those that I can just to bring me some hours of joy in this very stressful life. Please keep doing videos about this process as you go along !! Sonia! Someone said that their local DT allows them to exchange without a receipt. Maybe you should call and ask. Then you can at least get every day home items with some of it. I stopped doing dollar tree about a year ago and held on to it because I’m always afraid it’s going to be the one thing I need that I won’t have. I told myself then go out and get that one thing. You don’t need to hold on to 10 of them haha

@@UnicornDustDesigns thank you for taking the time to reply. I live in Canada now (not a Canadian) and unfortunately the DT "rules" that apply to US, don't apply here. Also the impulse to buy is even stronger here because we see something on KZfaq channels that you guys get over there THIS YEAR and in Canada will only arrive 1-2 years later IF any. Plus we don't have Hobby Lobby, or Joanne's or Target or 5 below or any of the other stores Americans usually shop for home decor. Also the thrift stores are a joke here with empty shelves. All in all a VERY depressing situation for those of us who love crafting and decorating. I hope you feel better with your pregnancy. PS. I haven't seen the little dog before. Is it a new family member? I only know Hank 😊

Yessss girl I need to do this so so so bad! I was like you and bought too many multiples of DT items thinking that I was gonna miss out!! And I legit have a mini DT in my basement/craftroom I need all the motivation/ inspiration as I can get!! Because I legit have a problem with letting go!! I always say well I will probably use it!! I declutter once a year usually. I recently had to get rid of things I had in storage from our house, like furniture and everything, because I could not afford to store it anymore now that my husband passed. It was so overwhelming. I rented a truck and took it to a flea market and did sell somethings, but by the time I paid for the truck and the spot, I didn't make anything. I had to rent the truck for a second day to unload at the Goodwill. There were some items that they would not take because they were too big, so I had to leave them on the curb as trash. The sad part was that 2 of the items were only a year or two old. It is definitely a huge problem especially in the US. Just ride around and see all the storage facilities with in a 10-mile radius. I don't think other countries have this problem or if they do it is not as bad.

I don't have quite the same stash as you, but I also don't have the same size space to store it. I don't know if I'm going to declutter anything, but I am going to attempt to make more things and really use stuff up. I grab stuff at super good deals, but there will always be more super good deals. You made great progress so far!

Oh my gosh this couldn’t have come at a better time. My basement flooded with all of the rain we had this week and we had to recruit my son an a couple of others to help us suck it all out. This resulted in my “dirty” little secret being exposed. I too became obsessed with dollar tree items and had to buy multiples. I would watch videos and want to make something but would never buy enough to just make one. It gets overwhelming and throw thrifting on top of it and next thing you know you’re spending so much time shopping you never get to the projects. My husband said you need to get rid of all that crap down there and I couldn’t agree more, I wish I could get all of my dollars back but I promised myself from now on if I get something to flip or craft I have to do it before I get another thing! I’m sure there are a lot more out there like us. I’m 60 and sure would hate for my children to have to clean all of that up if something happened to me. Gonna get a grip!

Oh my goodness girl I feel your struggle!!!!! I get stressed at just the thought of letting things go. Especially it it always seems that once it has gone you really need it. BUT wow girl your doing amazing to tackle this. Well done you. Something that's really great for floral storage are those door or wall hanging doodaah's that are for shoes xx

Yes! I just got some of those hanging shoe organizers for all my faux greenery a few months ago. It enabled me to use the back of the doors in my craft room, freeing up more wall space.

You might as well be me talking, same, same, same here girl 😅 I've started the sorting and donation piles...the thought of organizing for a yard sale is overwhelming as I don't really have anyone to help me do it lol so I'm using market place mostly and donating to thrift stores and nursing homes...I did the same DT hoarding big time over the last 3yrs, what were we ALL thinking!! You should have a yard sale. You can have it in your basement by appt. When you say "appt" everyone wants to be 1st. Make sure you let them know if prices are set or will you be willing to decrease prices. Have your kids help and pay them. Hehe....they will work harder. You have many nice things and what's left look for a church that has sales and donate it to them if they come and get the items. Best of luck. 😊

Boy do I feel your pain!! I have a 450 sq foot craft room & you cannot even walk thru it. The walk in closet is packed & you cannot get into the bathroom. I also have a storage loft full of bins of ribbon and other misc items. What a disaster. I used to buy dollar tree items online by the case. Talk about being a crazy crafter. I am going to do exactly what you are doing - it is driving me totally crazy!!! Good luck to you. The hardest part is getting started & organizing what you plan to keep. And yes, I have twin ginger cats that want to always help with whatever project I am working on.

Don't feel bad. I've done (and am still doing) the same thing. I bought TONS of multiples from Dollar Tree but my crafting has changed and I don't use those items anymore. I have donated pretty much all of the items I know I'm not going to use. I just don't want to hold onto it anymore. I am very picky about what I buy lately because I don't want to get that bad again. It also saves me alot of money that way. You will get there and I can't wait to see what the finished room looks like 😁

Sammie...I have watched your videos for years and I enjoy them so much. One thing that I have learned is that the Dollar Tree will allow you to exchange your items. As long as the item still rings up in their computer system - you can exchange it for a different item. Some stores require a receipt, but I have found most Dollar Trees will allow for the exchanges. This could be another option unless your ultimate goal is to purge and to not bring more in. Good luck.

I started getting rid of all my DT stuff except wood items as well a few months ago, my style of crafting has changed and the stuff just drives me crazy, I donated a lot of it and gave the rest to a friend who wanted it but still have more to go and then need to organize the stuff that I am keeping! I’m so glad I am not the only craft hoarder!🤣🤣 and this was perfect timing too! I have an extra bedroom that is my craft room. I JUST got it organized the other day. I’m busting at the seams! Well, then my bff is moving and said I could have ALL her craft stuff because she didn’t want to pack and take with her! She has a SHE-SHED IN HER BACK YARD!!!🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️My suv didn’t even have room for a passenger after going to her house the other day! And she has MORE TO GIVE ME! But I couldn’t say no!🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ right now all the things I brought from her house are in my living room! (I have a two bedroom apartment and it’s just me and my 5 cats! My daughters are older and have moved out…just a tidbit of info!) My goal for this weekend is to PURGE! And what’s worse, is on the way home from her house that day, I stopped by dollar tree and spent almost $100!! I think I have a problem!!🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣 BUT you have inspired me to get it together! Thank you my friend!!

I think all us crafters have a problem haha. I would possibly go through all the free stuff first since it’s in your main space and donate what you know you won’t get to any time soon. Then move on to your craft room. You got this

I was BRUTAL this past Summer. I filled boxes and boxes and boxes and ….. took them straight to the curb and within a few hours it was all gone! The money was LONG gone and my sanity was worth more than $1!!!!! I also took approximately 25 boxes to Goodwill (no hate) after my yard sale of legit stuff! I allowed ZERO BS to enter my mind!
