AWesome! So excited to get it home and play it along with the 61 vibrolux. I'll be sure to do a video of them.

Would you mind posting a video on youtube where we can hear them both? That would be great! I love your Super, very nice example of one. I just bought a 61' Super that was made pretty close to yours and shares some of the (unique) components: Triad Power Tranny, Rectangular Shape Bias board, mix of Astron and Mallory Caps.

@@rckilmore yeah man. I will but it'll be a couple of weeks. My house is in limbo with a nightmare remodeling going on. I've barely had time to play it and need to sort something out with it. All fo Tanner's work was perfect but the original tubes are doing some funky stuff, popping and phasing out. I need to just get thirty minutes to myself to play and start swapping pre amp tubes to find out what's what. And order/ find replacements.

Looks totally like a work of Art. Must cost a small fortune under normal circumstances for an amp to get the "TT" = Tanner Treatment. 🌞 🕶 SD - Munich

Over the years all of the dust, smoke, humidity, etc., in conjunction with the repeated heat cycling of the amp through usage can and DO cause the board AND wire sleeves to become conductive. Certain wire types fare better than others. Even cloth wires become conductive, sometimes more-so. Unfortunately, the only [actually best] solution would be to remove the board, all remnants of solder/flux, scrape/scrub it with copious amounts of isopropyl [preferably 99%], then apply heat with your iron on each eyelet to force any moisture away from them. You will be able to see it. After that, more isopropyl on the board, wipe and use a heat gun to really dry it out. Watch around the eyelets while doing this for any remaining moisture being forced out and repeat if needed. Yes, it's all time and cost prohibitive. At that time, you can clean all the crud off the inside of the chassis you could not get to which can also cause conductive problems and address the wiring itself. The inside front panel brass plate can also be removed, thoroughly cleaned and attended to also. This often really helps quiet an old amp plus allows better access to the pots and components.

Glad to hear you're going to try stuffing the astrons. I didn't know whether or not you'd see my post when I suggested it. I've never had the opportunity, or I would definitely have tried it by now lol.

That presence knob astron will be my test dummy for the next amp with them that needs it

@@YeatzeeGuitarcool. I'll be interested to see how it works! Did you ever think about using a normal full sized pot for bias and just use double sided tape on the back to isolate it from chassis? There's some 3m tape that works great.

@@soapboxearth2 I'm not sure I'd be comfortable trusting tape to hold a large metal object inside the amp. Eventually it could let go, perhaps even in shipping to the owner, then you're in trouble if you turn it on and it's shorting out against something it shouldn't be.

@@soapboxearth2I have soldered the CTS bias pots in before. Either by the case, or with a small brass mounting tab. Adhesive of any kind is too unreliable for decades of service. You can’t rely on people to regularly maintain anything, so make it bulletproof.

@@matthewf1979 yeah good idea . I was also thinking that an L shaped piece could be soldered and mount the pot on that. But I think your idea of soldering the pot to the chassis is better. I might consider taking the back of the pot off to solder it and reassemble once it's on, to prevent toasting the carbon track.

Microphonics are strangely contagious. A single microphonic tube can cause the same in adjacent tubes that are not when that tube is removed. It can even move to adjacent caps, largely anything otherwise connected to the offending tube both electronically and physically. Old ceramic caps are notorious for developing microphonics.
