What we know as Jesus’ last three words “it is finished!” is one word, “done!” In the original Greek. It is an accounting term, akin to “settled!” which was His way of declaring He had accomplished the task of fully paying back what was owing on our account!

His death for our sins paid for the penalty that we deserved. As a result, Jesus pursues us to offer us that forgiveness and salvation.
