Aussie here 👋, Lord Howe island is pronounced like Lord how island. You pronounce it Ike you would normally say ‘how’.

Hi Swiss, the island is pronounced Lord 'How' (as in 'cow'). It's named after Admiral Richard Howe who took part in the Seven Years' War.

Reason for the high prices to Lord Howe Island is the population cap (only a certain number of people are allowed on the island at one time) and the runway size (Qantaslink fly 36 seat Dash 8).
